Spring-Ford Area Senior High School junior David Gulati has been selected for the 2013 Widener University High School Leadership Award. The honor recognizes student achievement and excellence among high school juniors in the Delaware Valley.
Widener University High School Leadership Award spotlights students from across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware for their community service, leadership skills, academic excellence and exceptional character. The 69 students from around the area selected for the award will have the opportunity to participate in a leadership retreat at the university in the fall and will receive a $20,000 scholarship awarded over four years, should they enroll as undergraduates at Widener.
Additionally, students will attend a breakfast at the National Constitution Center on Feb. 19 to be honored for the achievement.
Spring-Ford Area Senior High School 11th-Grade House Principal Dr. Robert Colyer said David exhibits many positive characteristics that embody the Widener University High School Leadership Award, such as leadership, loyalty, self-sacrifice and compassion.
“This award is designed to recognize those high school students in the region who have stood up for what is right, found a way to address a wrong and have made a difference in a significant way,” Colyer added.
“I am very humbled and excited to be named a recipient of this distinguished award,” David said.
At this time, David wants to pursue a degree in business management, finance or marketing. He is currently considering a few colleges, including Villanova University, La Salle University and Temple University. David wants to be a student athlete by continuing his baseball career at the collegiate level.
