Spring-Ford Area School District is rolling out a somewhat revamped version of its Community Sponsorship Program, which superintendent Dr. David Goodin spoke about at Monday's school board meeting.
The Community Sponsorship Program allows businesses to sponsor a sprts team, club or other school organization in return for advertising opportunities around the district.
Packages are available, as are a la carte options. The packages combine the a la carte options into groups of three to six options, which include ads in district and Spring-Ford Education Foundation publications, at Coach McNelly stadium, in the high school gymnasium, on the district's television shows and on the district website.
Proposed package costs range from $2100-$5000 per semester.
"The great thing about this is that a donor can designate up to 50% of their donation to a specific group. So if they want to sponsor a sports team, or the French club, or something like that, they can," Goodin said.
School board president Thomas DiBello pointed out that some businesses have sponsorships already, and that this proposed revamp means "everyone is getting the same value for what you're spending."
It also does not prevent anyone else, such as the Spring-Ford athletic boosters, from fundraising.
"It will let groups like the athletic boosters go out and raise more targeted funds," Goodin said.
Goodin said the district will be reaching out to local businesses soon with a letter explaining the new program.
