Spring-Ford Grad Heading to Cover Olympics for NBC Sports

Michael Powers, who took broadcast classes in high school, may head to Sochi, Russia.

Spring-Ford High School Graduate Michael Powers has been chosen by NBC Sports to assist help with the network’s coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Shochi, Russia this February.

Powers, a junior majoring in television-radio at the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, will either be one of 25 students sent to Sochi, or nine based at the NBC Sports broadcast and production facility in Stamford, Conn.

"When I was in broadcasting class in high school, I never dreamed I would have this opportunity. Being involved in any facet of the Olympics broadcast is something I will cherish and remember forever," Powers said.
