Ursinus President Bobby Fong sent a message to all students cancelling classes and activities Sunday through Tuesday of next week due to the approaching storm, and urging all students to evacuate the campus by Noon on Sunday.
"Students who can safely leave campus are encouraged to do so," Fong said in the message, citing a high probability of power outages predicted as a result of the impending storm. "We strongly urge students to leave campus by noon Sunday."
There seems to be no impact on Homecoming weekend, which ran Friday and Saturday of the weekend; the last event scheduled for the weekend is a girls' soccer game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Instructors are encouraged to find alternative assignments to make up for lost class time, and only employees whose presence on campus is essential should consider coming to work, according to Fong.
Daily updates will be posted on the college's website, and Fong asks people not to call Campus Safety or 9-1-1 for weather updates, as the lines must be clear for emergencies.
During Hurricane Irene last year, there were no class cancellations.
