Worker Dies After Incident at Area School

Emergency Services responded to a call of electrocution at Skippack Elementary School Wednesday night, according to reports.

An electrician died after reportedly suffering an electric shock while working at a Perkiomen Valley School District (PVSD) facility on Wednesday night.

"[PVSD] is deeply saddened to report that an individual working for a subcontractor has died following an incident last night at Skippack Elementary School," according to a statement from the district.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the school's mechanical closet, according to the district.

According to 6abc.com, police said the worker was injured after receiving an electric shock; a Reporter story stated that emergency service vehicles responded to an electrocution call at the school.

The individual was an employee of GreenTech, a lighting subcontractor hired by CM3 Building Solutions that that the company hired to perform energy-saving facility upgrades, the district said. Since July, GreenTech has been installing energy-efficient lighting in the buildings.

Work has been done during second shift hours so as not to disturb class while school in session.

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the accident, and PVSD will assist as needed while the investigation continues.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the person involved," the school district said.
