Comedy Troupe Olde English Presents Its Award-winning Film, The Exquisite Corpse Project, at Ursinus College

Members of the New York City comedy troupe Olde English will host a screening of their film, The Exquisite Corpse Project, on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center’s Lenfest Theater. The event, which is part of the group’s college tour, is free and open to the public.

For the 85-minute film, director Ben Popik reunited five comedy writers---Joel Clark, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Adam Conover, Dave Segal and Chioke Nassor---of the comedy group he had founded while a student at Bard College. He presented them with a challenge: to each write 15 pages of a movie, having only read the previous five pages of the script.

The result is an award-winning mix of comedy and documentary that features behind-the-scenes footage of the challenging process of creative collaboration. After the screening, the filmmakers will talk about creating the film, their careers in sketch comedy, and writing for TV comedies.

The film won the Audience Award in the documentary category of the Dances With Films festival, and it was also awarded the Best Documentary and Best Director honors at the Los Angeles New Wave International Film Festival.
