ATA Martial Arts Raises Funds to 'Chop Childhood Cancer'

A 5K Fun Run was held in honor of Julia Grave Eveland, an 8-year-old Brooke Elementary School in September.

ATA Martial Arts in Royersford held its first-ever 5K/1 Mile Fun Run to 'Chop Childhood Cancer' on Sept. 29, in honor of Brooke Elementary School student Julia Grace Eveland, who passed away from cancer in September.

Julia, who died Sept. 5 after a three-year battle with a childhood kidney cancer, inspired Spring-Ford teachers and parents to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in April.

"There were 376 individuals who either ran or walked for the event, raising over $2,000," said Becky Magdycz, ATA event coordinator. "It was an amazing day celebrating a very special little girl and raising much needed funding and awareness for this devastating disease."

More than 25 of vendors participated in the event, including The Malvern School (Lewis Rd), Kelli-Ann Armstrong with Thirty-One Gifts, Diane Ma with Designs by Di Di, Barb Tanner with Avon, Becky Schaeffer with Phoenix Chiropractic, Chance Schwartz with Celtic Iron Fitness, Ronnie Fitzgerald with Mary Kay, Hand and Stone, Happy Busy Bee, Gymboree, GNC, PremiER, Oragami Owl, Maggie Bickel with Silpada Designs, Pride N Joy Hair Salon featuring Locks of Love, To Love a Canine, Kate Hudson with Faces by Kate, Cake Art by Amy, a Rainbow Loom Designer, and Alex's Lemonade Stand!
