Local Landscaper Transforms Norristown Lot

E.G. Rall Jr. Landscape Design & Horticultural Services converted the empty lot at the corner of Main & DeKalb into a delightful garden in honor of Earth Day.

You may have passed by the corner of Main & DeKalb Streets and wondered what all the hustle and bustle was about. Well, Norristown landscapers posted the details of their corner project on their blog recently. They've also offered up some before and after shots of the lot.

From their website

"In April, E.G. Rall, Jr. was able to give back a bit to the area where we are located. The Corner of Dekalb and Main in Norristown needed some sprucing up. Together with some other areas businesses and in honor of Earth Day, we donated some annuals to the cause. In the shadow of the courthouse we were able to add a bit of color to the neighborhood."

You can read more about the company and their projects here.

Kudos to E.G. Rall for his work on the empty lot. Norristown borough officials are feverishly looking a tatoo parlor, smoke shop, laundromat, bail bondsman, check cashing agency, furniture rental or failing that an automotive parts store facing sideways to Main Street. Norristown, the town that hates itself.

I walked by this landscaping site this morning and was disappointed at how shoddy the work was. they did NOTHING to eradicate the weeds where the mulch was installed and as a result you can barely see the mulch because the weeds are growing up like wildfire. Is there no one maintaining it or will this just be another FUBARED attempt at revitalization like the $10k mural in the train station walkway? It's pretty embarrassing.
