Royersford Free Public Library Looking for Volunteers

Library volunteers can help make a direct positive impact in the Royersford community.

As a free and public library, the Royersford Library could always benefit from generous gifts, even the gift of a patron’s time.

On the Friends of Royersford Free Public Library website, the friends have posted volunteer opportunities to those willing to donate a little of their time in support to the library.

“You are invited to join our elite corps of dedicated volunteers!” states the website. “By sharing your time and talent with us, you can make a big difference in the quality of library service in your community.”

Library volunteer opportunities include working side-by-side with staff during library activities, helping to sort, shelve and assist with special projects, such as in the Used Book Room; demonstrate new technologies to the public, answering phones, shelf reading and more.

According to the site, volunteers ages range from 12 – 94, with some helping with short-term projects and others staying on for years. The site also includes links to a Volunteer/Community Service application and service guidelines, some of which share that volunteers will acquire new skills and knowledge, support literacy and life-long learning and also receive a “volunteer” badge.

An upcoming volunteer opportunity will take place at the June 6 Summer Reading Kickoff Event.

At the Summer Reading Kickoff, volunteers are needed to staff booths for bake/food sale, raffle tickets, carnival games and more. The library is also looking for donations for items to sell at the event.
