A winter storm is expected to dump 3 inches to 7 inches of snow on Montgomery and Bucks counties from Thursday night into Friday morning.

The National Weather Service, in issuing a winter storm watch, warned of blowing and drifting snow and dangerous cold.

Rain is expected to fall in the afternoon then change to snow later Thursday.

The National Weather Services warns that travel will be hazardous, with wind gusts up to 30 mph and snow falling almost an inch per hour in the height of the storm. Visibility will be poor, and road plowing operations will be affected because of blowing and drifting snow, it said.

Temperatures will drop into the 20s and teens Thursday night, the weather service said. Flash freezing can occur as temperatures drop rapidly below freezing and the snow increases, it said.
