This week we take a look at the steady progression over a four year career of one of track's finest: Xavier Ingram, a senior relay sprinter for the Rams.
Hard work and dedication. Two words that Spring-Ford track senior Xavier Ingram knows very well. As a matter of fact, Ingram uses those two words in his every day life to garner success. Ingram is a part of the 4x800-meter relay team that will be heading to the PIAA State Championship meet at Shippensburg University this weekend. "I think Xavier deserves recognition," said head coach Ken DeAngelo. "He's put up with us for four years. In the very beginning he went from a 56 [seconds] in the 400 to a 50 [seconds]. He's a very important part of the 4x800-meter relay that we want to get to the states and score a high medal in." Ingram also ran in the 4x400-meter relay at the district tournament. He explained that he slacked off a lot during …

Multiple witnesses to the altercation between former Spring-Ford band director John Eckstine and a Limerick woman testified on Thursday.
Preliminary hearings for John E. Eckstine, former Spring-Ford band director, and Jacqueline M. Alegado, a Limerick woman and band parent, were held last Thursday. During the hearings, multiple witnesses testified. Four charges were dropped from Eckstine's case, while Alegado was held on all charges. Both cases will go to the Court of Common Pleas in Norristown on July 5. Below are accounts from multiple witnesses in the case. Morris, a 15-year veteran of the Limerick Police Department, saw the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident in the residential area where he resides. He was off duty at the time when he saw several people on both sides of the roadway. When attempting to find out who was involved in the accident, Morris said he …

Spring-Ford Baseball and Softball compete in Districts this week. Track & Field sends athletes to the PIAA State Championship competition.
Here is a look at this week's postseason competition: The Rams are coming off of a PAC-10 Championship loss to Boyertown but are not done yet. They get a first round bye in districts with the fourth overall seed (first in the PAC-10). The boys will take on the winner of Conestoga and Central Bucks South, which is being played today. The Rams' game is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Rams Stadium. If the boys advance, they will go on to the third round and play on Friday at 4 p.m. at Ram Stadium. The girls also lost in the Final Four. However, their end came a little sooner than baseball with their loss to Perkiomen Valley. The Vikings went on to win the PAC-10 title. Spring-Ford gets a first round bye in the tournament and will face …

Boyertown defeated Spring-Ford for the PAC-10 Championship, 6-5 Thursday night.
After a defensive stand in the PAC-10 semifinals against Methacton that led the Rams into the PAC-10 championship game, fans saw a polar opposite type of game against Boyertown on Thursday night. Boyertown pitcher A.J. Bogucki pitched lights out in the title game and helped lead his Bears to a 6-5 victory. Aiding in the win was a Rams defense that let up six total errors - two in the second scoring the first run, two in the sixth scoring the next two runs, and two in the seventh, allowing the go-ahead to score. "It's tough to take, but the point is we put ourselves in that position," said head coach Bruce Brobst. "We didn't make plays, they forced us into making plays, and we didn't make them." Through the first five innings, Boyertown …

Spring-Ford advances for a chance at the PAC-10 Championship after defeating Methacton, 3-1 Wednesday night.
After splitting with Methacton in the 2012 season, Spring-Ford came out and played well when it mattered most, defeating the Warriors, 3-1 in the PAC-10 semifinals game. They'll face Boyertown tonight in the PAC-10 Championship game, hoping to win yet another league crown. Unlike last year's team, the Rams haven't been an offensive powerhouse, but the defense is in tip-top shape and helped the offense keep a big enough lead to hold the opponents to just one score. "Too close for comfort, but this is the kind of baseball we've been playing," said head coach Bruce Brobst. "We don't go out there and expect to score eight, nine or 10 runs. We expected it to be a tight ballgame, we expected to play defense and we expect to pitch. We have to do …

Spring-Ford softball's PAC-10 run was cut short on Wednesday evening by the Perkiomen Valley Vikings, 3-0.
Coming in as the top seed, the Spring-Ford softball team only lost two games all season long, both to Methacton. While Methacton moves on to the PAC-10 Championship game tonight, the Rams will not get their sweet revenge. Unfortunately for the girls, Perkiomen Valley stood in the way and pitcher Erin Hamm pitched lights out for the Vikings to aid in the 3-0 win over a Rams squad that defeated PV two years in a row in the Final Four and twice already this season. "Starting off, they outplayed us," said Spring-Ford head coach Tim Hughes. "They deserved to win. They outcoached us. They did everything better than us. We were sleeping and again that's ultimately my fault. I've got to make sure we're ready to go and we weren't ready to go. I don…

Great Valley defeated Spring-Ford in districts round one on Wednesday, 9-6.
A little over two weeks ago, the Spring-Ford boys lacrosse team came out and edged a tough non-league opponent in Great Valley, 12-11. In round two, Great Valley won the battle, and will continue to fight the war. They defeated the Rams, 9-6 in a two-day game that ousted Spring-Ford from the district tournament and effectively ended their season. "Our hope was to get as far if not further than we did last year," said head coach Kevin Donnelly. "That will be the same mantra next year. There are a lot of different reasons. None of them are acceptable." The first three quarters of the game were played on Tuesday night. However, lightning struck nearby and the game was delayed for almost two hours before officials called the game to be resumed…
