The following is a press release from the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation: Our communities’ parade, now in its third year, promises to be the most melodic and best yet for both parade participants and onlookers! This year’s parade theme, “Patriotic Songs” provides creative inspiration for floats and banners and encourages more musicians and bands to join in than last year. Parade chairman Russ Henze and his Parade Committee have devoted countless hours to creating a must-see spectacle of bands, cars, floats, marchers and other displays dedicated to showcasing our remembrance and gratitude owed to our veterans and our service men and women. Chase Utley joins a growing list of injured Philadelphia Phillies so far this year.
Add Chase Utley to the list. Just when you thought the Philadelphia Phillies second baseman might make it through the year injury free, Utley has now been shelved by an oblique strain. He's the latest casuality on a growing list of players that could sink the Phillies season before we hit June. Utley's out. And he joins Carlos Ruiz who has a foot injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks; fifth starter John Lannan, who got knocked out after a few starts; Roy Halladay, possibly out for the year after shoulder surgery; and Mike Adams, the key set-up man to closer Jonathan Papelbon. And don't forget that Ryan Howard is battling injuries that could linger all season. It's not looking good for a team that needs every player …

Looking for something other than a Camry from one of the world's largest automakers.
My car’s rear seats don’t fold down. They did on my previous car, which was a coupe version of my current car, but my car’s first owner didn’t pony up the money for the cold-weather package … so now I’m stuck with a small trunk and no headlamp washers. First world problems, I know. And because my seats don’t fold down, whenever I want to go skiing, or surfing, or just carry a long stick in my vehicle, I’ve got to run to my mother. She drives a 2001 Toyota RAV4. It’s cavernous, can plow through 2 feet of snow with its gas-guzzling, always-on 4-wheel drive system and 70-series tires, and is probably the slowest vehicle I’ve ever driven. I’m always welcome to drive it when I need to take a tortuous trip to Ikea and I love it. But, being a …
The disappearance, and subsequent recovery, of Matthew Royer has started a lively debate among Patch readers on missing person investigations.
Skippack man Matthew Royer was located Thursday after disappearing on his way home from the Univeristy of Rhode Island on May 18. The Royer family asked the media to consider this a "private and closed matter," and there have been no details on the reasons for his disapearance, or the details surrounding his recovery. Patch readers, however, have started a lively discussion on if indivuduals who go missing are found to have left on their own accord without telling anyone, who should be responsible for the search efforts? Planning a vacation or just a day trip? Patch has all the information on the Shore's best beaches
More than six months after Superstorm Sandy caused unprecedented damage to the Jersey Shore region, the beaches will be open for Memorial Day Weekend and the summer. While certain access points and facilities might be closed as municipalities continue to work on restoration, for the most part, the beaches will be operational. The only beach that remains off limits to the public is Mantoloking. The borough was home to a breach that split Ocean County's northern barrier island in half and was one of the hardest hit communities in New Jersey during the storm. So as you prepare to stick your toes in the sand, are you wondering what will be accessible after Sandy? Need to know how much it will cost to buy badges to your favorite beach? Curious …

Everything is OK. The new Head Cheese is the current third base coach. Charlie Manuel can go now and all will be forgiven. They had a good run but the Phillies are older now and if I may quote the Roliing Stones, who know better than anyone,"time waits for no one,and it won't wait for me".   more ›
