Accident Closes Lewis Road at Rush Hour

A two-car crash occurred around 5pm.

A crash snarled traffic in all directions around a large stretch of Lewis Road on Thursday evening.  According to Limerick Township police officer Shawn Pancoast, one car, driven by a female driver, was traveling north on Lewis Road when a second car tried to turn left into the post office from the southbound lane and the cars collided.  The male driver of the second car had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both cars sustained heavy front-end damage.  Limerick Township police sergeant Brian Skelton said that the driver turning left is generally at fault unless speed is a factor, and speed was not a factor in this accident.
