Patch is Two Today!

We're looking back at Patch's last year to celebrate our second anniversary.

Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch is two years old today! Patch has enjoyed another successful year bringing you the news you want to hear about the community you live in, and it's been a great year. Thousands of you read and comment on stories, over 2,600 people like the Patch Facebook page, and many of you tell Patch and your neighbors what's happening by posting events, announcements and blogs on the site.  It's you, the community of readers, that make this site what it is. We couldn't do this job without you.  So, thank you for this last year. As we go forward into 2013, we'll be continuing to bring you all the news you need to know about Limerick, Royersford and Spring City.  We look forward to being the best community news source…

Kelly's Worldclass Celebrates 1 Year Friday - Promotional Giveaways

LRSC Patch Editor Kevin Haslam and his team of Patchers will be on hand in the morning to hand out free Reading Phillies tickets. Don't miss it!

The following invitation/release was sent in by Christi Kelly of Kelly's Worldclass Automotive: One year in business has gone quickly - but we are flourishing in the Limerick area with a solid customer base and new customers each day. Pat's honesty, knowledge, and integrity in this field has paid off. Recently, we started automotive detailing and that is just one of the new components to our future success. We plan to expand our services/staff in the future and would love to find a local business interested in sharing our large side lot to promote used car sales (which is the current zoning with Limerick Township). On Friday, June 15, Kevin Haslam and the Limerick Patch team, as well as representatives from Kona Ice Of Schwenksville, will …

Vendor Bingo to Celebrate 1 Year in July

The local charitable organization is looking for help for its anniversary celebration.

The following release was submitted by Melissa McKechnie, founder of Vendor Bingo: Vendor Bingo has been taking place at the Royersford Friendship Fire Company on 269 Green Street since last July. Each month we try to raise as much money as we can for a local charity. This past year we have raised so much money for these charities. We've raised about $300 for MS, $400 for Get Well Gabby, and over $500 for Relay for Life. To celebrate our one year anniversary, we are throwing a "One-Year Anniversary Bingo Celebration!" on July 20! Typically, we have about 15 vendors each having their own bingo round with three winners in each round. For our one-year anniversary, we are trying to double the vendors and the prizes! Local businesses are going …

Patch Awards Godin 2011 Officer of the Year

Our next award was handed out to Royersford Police Officer Tom Godin, who was voted as the top officer of 2011 by all of our loyal readers!

The men and women who serve our communities are yet another important aspect of what makes us, the Spring-Ford area, such a great place to live. So, when we decided to award our communities' best people in light of our one-year anniversary, we couldn't leave out the police officers and firefighters. It was tough to narrow it down to six officers, let alone a winner, and one commenter even stressed that all of our local responders deserve recognition. In light of that request, we proudly comply! A huge thank you to all of our police, fire and EMS squads in the Limerick, Royersford and Spring City area. But, the goal was to honor one, as well, so after careful consideration, we nominated six deserving officers, and after your votes were …

Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch Celebrates Six Months

On this day six months ago, a new era was born in community news.

Fall 2010 - Unfamiliar people carrying big green folders and flyers came to Eastern Pennsylvania to spread the word about a new online service called "Patch." These colorful characters were mostly seen entering local businesses to collect information for what is now known as our "Places" section. Some business owners were skeptical, being scammed in the past by similar services, but our Commercial Listings Collectors didn't let up. They had a job to do and that was to help set up what would eventually be your main local hub for news, sports, events and other happenings in the area. December 2010 - A bright and friendly face in the Limerick community by the name of David Powell entered the scene and started spreading the word to schools and…

"... a new era was born in community news"? Bit of an overstatement, methinks, Kevin, but as a competitor and reporting colleague I understand your pride. The Patch is a terrific addition to community news coverage in Limerick that I read daily. Congratulations on six months! Regards, Joe Zlomek, Managing Editor, The Limerick Post   more ›
