What's Going Around? - Spring Allergies
Springtime allergies can take a toll on both adults and children and can put a damper on an otherwise much anticipated change of seasons.

Don't run to the pharmacy: The best cold and flu remedies can be whipped up right at home.
I'm 32 with a child of my own, but every time I get sick, I still want my mommy. There's just something about mommies that make us feel better when we're not feeling well; it's magic, the kind you can never find on the shelves at your CVS. How do you know if it's a cold or the flu? The symptoms can be very similar, from nasal congestion and cough to exhaustion and achiness. If you're running a fever above 101 degrees, you probably have the flu. The common cold rarely presents with a fever. You'll usually have to endure a cold for about a week, while a flu virus could hang around from a few days to a few weeks.. While you're in the throes of your particular bug, give some of these homemade remedies a try. (This advice is not intended to …
For those who loathe the cold – how does 65 degrees sound on Tuesday?
December's first week will feature generally mild weather. The cold trough that dominated much of November, bringing us our first month of below-average temperatures since last August, has been replaced with a more zonal pattern in the atmosphere. This is allowing temperatures to moderate quite a bit through Wednesday and still remain close to normal through the end of the week as the cold air core entrenches over the Yukon and Alaska this week. Don't get too giddy with hopes for warmth all winter. We will trend colder, likely next week, but for those who thought the November chill was insufferable, the following week provides a bit of a breather in the pattern. The warmest of the days this week will be Tuesday, with highs that flirt with …

I don't know if it truly is climate change. After all, temperatures have fluctuated for the the last hundred years, and maybe more. Sometimes they say the last time the temperature was "X" was in 1932 (or whatever). On a side note, if the weather wants to be warmer that's fine with me and my electric bill.   more ›
The chill of the past couple of days will retreat, come back, and retreat again over the next week, with the possibility of a Spring Fling early next week...
Last January, our area had over a dozen days where the high temperature for the month was 32 or colder, including six days with high temperatures that couldn't get above 30 degrees. Fans of cold Januaries aren't going to get their fill around here this year. A more fitting place might be Fairbanks, AK Not below freezing...below zero. Those who want snow may want to check out Cordova or Valdez, AK, both places have picked up feet of snow so far this month, with Valdez's snow cover over five feet on the ground as of yesterday. The prevalent winter pattern has kept Alaska almost exclusively in an ice box, colder than most years, while keeping the vast majority of the lower 48 in what some meteorologists call a winter blowtorch pattern. Mild …
January's shaping up as a volatile month in the weather realm. Temperature roller coasters, soaking rains, and more seem to be the theme of the coming month's weather.
For more local weather reports, visit Phillyweather.net There's quite a lot in the weather realm that's being made of the potential for a pattern flip later on this week. In some respects, the pattern this winter changed about two weeks ago from a generally mild pattern to one with wild oscillations of warmth and chill. November in December, which was how the weather felt for much of the month, was replaced by alternating shots of cold and warmth - a theme that's continued into early January. We went from the freezer on Tuesday and Wednesday to people wearing shorts this past Saturday as temperatures jumped into the middle 60s. Another such oscillation of temperature is forthcoming this week as the pattern swings back toward chill after a …
The prospect of two rain events in the coming week looms over the ability to get out of town and get back into town without the potential for some delays at the airport.
In all reality, the coming week will be pretty mild, despite coming down in temperature a few notches from Sunday's mid-60s and mix of sunshine and some high clouds. The weather landscape this week features the prospect of two storm systems, one for Tuesday night into Wednesday and a second that could impact the East Coast as early as Sunday evening. That's the bad news. The good news is shopping on Black Friday will be enjoyable in terms of weather or enjoyable if you're not into shopping at the mall, like I am (regardless of the weather) as temperatures should hit 50 or just above that with mostly sunny skies. The first storm system, for Tuesday night and Wednesday, will bring the potential for a half inch to an inch of rain to the …
Chance of a chilled rain late this week will usher in a cool end to this month.
This past weekend was a definite reminder that we're in the descent towards winter cold. The temperatures have been great, at least in my opinion - not too warm, not too terribly cold - and it's definitely a fall-like feeling outside of late. This week's weather will feature a rather nice beginning, a rather chilly ending, with rain for us later on this week to transition from the nicer weather to the colder. Monday will feature mostly cloudy skies and there could be a few showers in the afternoon as a weak front crosses the region. I don't think there will be much to worry about from a rain standpoint - it's a pretty benign front moving through the region. After a nice Tuesday and a mild Wednesday, both days featuring a decent breeze in…

This is really good information. When I am feeling sick I find that a hot toddy does the trick usually. But a few weeks ago I was really sick and nothing seemed to work. I was glad I could just pick up the phone and call a doctor. They were able to call in a prescription for me to the pharmacy. MD247   more ›
