The boys basketball squad heads back to the PAC-10 Championship game after last night's victory.
One year ago, the Spring-Ford boys basketball team walked off the court as Pope John Paul II High School celebrated its first PAC-10 Championship. One month ago, the Spring-Ford boys got retribution in a regular season win over the Panthers. Less than 24 hours ago, the Rams did it again, defeating the Panthers in the first round of the Final Four, 55-45. It wasn't an easy game, but the Rams helped their case by setting the tempo early. They had an 18-7 lead at the end of one. "Every team wants to do that, but yeah, we definitely came out and defensively set the tone," said head coach Mike Young. "Last game, if you remember, they came out and got three three-[pointers] right away in the first quarter. [Brent] Mahoney got started and we …
A recap of Friday night's Final Four girls basketball game.
It didn't take long for the Spring-Ford High School girls basketball team to score its first points in Friday night's Final Four semifinals game against Phoenixville. The Rams were fouled within the first minute of the game, allowing sophomore guard Sammy Stipa to put in two free throws. What the Lady Rams didn't know was that they would be going on a 21-1 run to make it 23-1 at the end of the first quarter. The girls played aggressive, even employing the full court press early on. "It's where the defense was, really, for what we want to do," said head coach Jeff Rinehimer. "They know they were a team and they had to play team defense to get it done." The Phantoms turned the ball over 37 times in the 69-31 Spring-Ford win. The Lady Rams …
