Dickey's Celebrates Grand Opening with Special Guests

The line stretched out the door for most of the lunch hour.

One dollar for pulled pork sandwiches and barbecue cookbook giveaways drew a large crowd to Dickey's Barbecue Pit on Lewis Road Friday as they celebrated their grand opening.  Radio station personality Andi Summers and her co-workers from WXTU 92.5 was there to hand out magents and stickers and give away tickets to see Montgomery Gentry next week.  Company chairman Roland Dickey also visited the store from Dallas, Texas, where it was most certainly much warmer than the 40-degree temperatures.  Dickey gave away autographed copies of his Mr. Dickey's Barbecue Cookbook: Recipes from a True Texas Pit Master to the first 50 people who came into the restaurant today.  Three people also won a year's worth of barbecue - one voucher per week for a …

New Dollar Store Brings Value To Limerick

Store opened in June in Fox Ridge Shopping Center

Readers might remember VC Dollar from our "What Do You Want To See Go Here?" series. Located in the former location of Time 2 Party, the store opened on June 19. Owners Victor and Carmen Alicea, who live in the Blue Bell/Ambler area, chose the Limerick store because they liked the area and the community. Victor Alicea spent 14 years working for a health-care communications company; his wife worked for Travelers' Aid in Philadelphia for 20 years.  Like many people over the last few years, Victor's job was eliminated, and he and his wife decided to start their own business. The VC in VC Dollar stands for Victor and Carmen, although Alicea joked that people ask him if it stands for "very cheap" or "very cool".  Alicea said a dollar store …

Schuylkill Valley Sports Grand Opening This Week

The locally-owned sporting goods company has been in the area for 40 years

Schuylkill Valley Sports, locally owned and operated in the Greater Philadelphia area for the past 40 years, recently opened its newest location in Limerick at the Court at Upper Providence, located on Ridge Pike. The store, which sits next to Ross, was opened in light of the recent closure of the Trappe location at the end of 2011. Although the store has been opened since that time, Schuylkill Valley Sports Marketing Director & Buyer Phil Baumgardner said spring is a great time for the store's grand opening event, which starts today and goes on through April 1. "[We're] disappointed to have to close the Trappe location," Baumbardner said. "We had been [there] for over 15 years, but [we're] very excited about the new location and …

Lucky Lab Has Official Grand Opening Today

A blurb from the Courier Post Online

The following is from the blog Puts & Pints from The Courier Post Online: Saturday brings us the official grand opening of the Lucky Lab Tavern in Royersford. This is the former Sly Fox location. Twenty-four taps, three to four devoted to Sly Fox (and why not?), but a vastly cool selection otherwise. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and wish them luck at this all-day event. Went there on opening night with my wife and it was ok. We aren't drinkers so I can't comment on the bar selection but the food, atmosphere, etc. were just mediocre in my opinion.   more ›
