Upper Providence Township Police are investigating an alleged road rage assault near Collegeville.
There is currently an ongoing investigation on what is allegedly being deemed a "road rage" incident on Route 29 and Hopwood Road Wednesday night. Upper Providence Township police were dispatched to the scene shortly after 7:15 p.m. for a suspected vehicle accident in which a pedestrian was struck. The male victim was found lying in the northbound lane of Route 29. The report said he was attended to by "several Good Samaritans." He was taken to Paoli Hospital by Trappe Ambulance. After an investigation, police determined the incident to be a road rage assault. The suspect allegedly fled the scene before police arrived. Results of the trial for the 2011 hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a local woman.
Patricia Maurer, 75 of New Hanover, who was accused of a hit-and-run in April 2011 that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old pedestrian woman, was convicted of a felony charge of accidents involving death or personal injury on Friday, according to Carl Hessler Jr, of The Pottstown Mercury. Authorities originally looked for the driver of the fatal hit-and-run, who had fled the scene on April 27, 2011. Through her attorney, Maurer later admitted to driving the 2003 Toyota Camry that struck and killed Kristy Bender, as she walked home from her job at the Kohl's. Patricia Maurer, of the 2800 block of New Hanover Square Road, has agreed to a jury trial that will begin Tuesday in Montgomery County Court before Judge Joseph A. Smyth. Assistant District Attorney John Walko and defense lawyer Joseph P. Green Jr. on Monday completed the selection of a panel of 12 jurors and two alternate jurors, who will begin hearing testimony Tuesday. The Limerick Township Police Department logged 195 incidents between Oct. 24 and 30. Of the incidents, 20 were deemed false alarms. Among the calls to which the police responded were the following incidents of note. A press release sent in by Police Chief Bill Albany: Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night, will keep thieves from making their rounds at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. Down trees and wires from this weekend's snow storm were not enough to keep Limerick Police busy this past weekend. Police responded to four reported thefts at the mall and made three arrests.
