GALLERY: Sox Fall to Northampton, Out of Tournament

Spring City was unable to recover from Wednesday's game against the Northampton Bombers.

The Spring City Red Sox took on the Northampton Bombers Wednesday at Ram Stadium at 11 a.m. Both teams were playing hard for their spot against Conestoga in the finals, but the Bombers came out victorious, 14-4. The Red Sox were up to bat first in the top of the first inning, and Andy Lovre-Smith was able to hit a single and bring David Gulati home for the first and only run for Spring City in the inning. Northampton was able to score three runs in the first due most in part to shortstop Matt Mindeese's triple, which brought home Tyler Cillender and Jake Nevin. Mindeese was brought home next by a Shane Coleman single. The second inning was almost identical to the first with Spring City scoring only one run and Northampton scoring three. …

GALLERY: Spring City Advances to Semifinals

The Spring City Red Sox advanced to the American Legion Semifinals after a win against Conestoga last night.

Despite losing the first game and being placed in the losers' bracket, the Spring City Red Sox have given it all they have throughout the losers' bracket series. Tuesday night's game was at Ram Stadium against Conestoga. Conestoga already has a spot in the Championship game due to an earlier win in the tournament, but by winning this game Spring City got a chance in the semifinals against Northhampton today at 11 a.m. Throughout the first inning, Conestoga's only run was scored by Tommy Richter, and Spring City's only run was scored by David Gulati. However, the second inning definitely belonged to Spring City. Pitcher Chris Butera allowed no runs through five batters, giving the Sox the chance to get up to bat and score three runs almost …

GALLERY: Spring City Advances to Junior Legion Quarterfinals

Spring City advanced to the quarterfinals Tuesday after taking out Beech Creek in a dominating 11-1 win.

The Spring City Red Sox took on Beech Creek Tuesday at Ram Stadium. After a two-hour rain delay, the Sox fought hard for an 11-1 victory. Losing the first game and being placed in the losers' bracket was a tough hit for the Red Sox, but they never lost hope. "I'm feeling good," said Spring City head coach Michael Gancasz. "Obviously since we are in the losers' bracket our backs are against the wall, since it's an elimination game, but like I said the guys are feeling good. Pitching-wise I think we will be fine, and we just have to make the routine plays and get us another W and continue on." The second inning was one of the most eventful for Spring City, as pitcher Cameron Simmons allowed only one run. That gave Spring City the advantage, …

GALLERY: Spring City Defeats JP Mascaro in Elimination Game

The Chester County American Legion Baseball tournament is underway and Spring City is still in it after a 6-3 win on Sunday.

Playing at Ram Stadium at Spring-Ford High School, local teams Spring City and JP Mascaro (MONTCO) battled through rain delays and extreme heat on Sunday. Both teams lost on Saturday, setting themselves up to match against each other in the losers' bracket. The second inning proved to be a little more exciting than the first. The game was scoreless until Spring City brought in a run at the bottom half. Second batter Michael Fuhrmeister slammed a double, which was followed by another double hit by Corey Ranty. That hit brought Fuhrmeister home. Scoring the second run for Spring City at the bottom of the third inning was Cameron Summons, who was brought home by a single hit by Andy Loure-Smith. Neither team scored in the fourth inning, but …

Junior Red Sox Rally To Beat Top-Seeded Dawgz

A recap of the Twin County League American Junior Legion playoffs.

In a knock down, drag out battle, the Red Sox defeated number one seed and regular season champion NorChester, 10-9, in eight innings. They effectively knocked the Big Dawgz into to the losers' bracket in the Twin County League American junior legion playoffs Sunday night. NorChester took a 4-3 lead in the fourth and carried a 7-4 lead until Spring City erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh, all with two outs, to take a 9-7 edge. After the seeing the Dawgz tie the game in the seventh as a ball scooted away at second base, Spring-Ford sophomore Connor Murphy stranded the winning run ninety feet away, as he got Steve Muscovitch to ground out softly in the infield. In first extra stanza, Cameron Simmons sent a two-out single after a…
