Spring-Ford school district statement on student death

Students offered grief counseling

Following is the full text of a statement issued by the Spring-Ford Area School District on Monday afternoon regarding the death of student Kyle Kulp: The Spring-Ford Area School District community is deeply saddened by the reported death of Spring-Ford High School sophomore Kyle Kulp, who apparently passed away Saturday after a diving incident at the Dutch Springs scuba diving and aqua park in Lower Nazareth Township. Kyle had recently transferred to Spring-Ford High School from the Daniel Boone School District. He began classes in the high school April 4th. Royersford teen killed in Lehigh Valley [updated]

Kyle Kulp, 16, died Saturday after an incident at the Dutch Springs scuba diving park in Lower Nazareth.

A 16-year-old boy died Saturday in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Bethlehem, following an incident at the Dutch Springs scuba diving park in Lower Nazareth Township. An autopsy was performed this morning on Kyle Kulp of Royersford. Kulp was diving with his father and a group, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim. Grim said determination of the cause and manner of death is pending an investigation and toxicology test results. Kyle was a student at Spring-Ford High School. He began attending the school on April 4 after transferring from the Daniel Boone Area School District in Berks County, according to Jessica Lester, a spokesperson for the school district.
