Royersford Main Street was due to be closed this week, delayed to Monday August 13
According to a press release, PennDOT and Norfolk Southern have delayed the start of the Royersford Main Street rail crossing project to next Monday, August 13. The construction is now scheduled to last from August 13 to August 17. Charles Metzger, PennDOT Community Relations Coordinator, told Patch in a phone interview that the delay was due to the construction crews "having too much other work in the area." Metzger said he was unaware of how this delay would affect the scheduled closure of Arch Street in Royersford. Metzger also said that the rail crossing repair project on Hanover Street in Pottstown had been cancelled. Norfolk Southern was contacted but has yet to respond to a request for information.

We are asking the community its opinion on empty stores. Here's your chance to express your views.
Last week, we asked the community what it would like to see go in the old Country Farms location on the corner of N. Lewis and Main in Royersford, and there was an overwhelming response. So, we want to continue our weekly segment to get more valued opinions from our readers. This week, we head down Main Street in Royersford, where there are plenty of empty storefronts. Check out the photos above, and you'll see the old location of Salon Elite, which is next to Faith's Fashion and Open Door. The shop certainly has a lot of space and a huge window to peer into. Would another apparel store be good for this location? What about another salon? Or do you want to see something a little more "outside the box?" Leave your thoughts in the comments …

A multi-part series, conversing with former Royersford Mayor Dave Urner about life, the borough and his seven-plus-year term.
Royersford Mayor Dave Urner made a truly difficult decision in September. He announced that he would be stepping down just about a year shy of the expiration of his term for personal reasons. His resignation was effective Sept. 30 and in the meantime, the borough council had to make moves to select an interim. The council chose one of its own in John Guest, who has served the borough for more than 20 years. He now sits in Urner's seat and hopes to fulfill the duties of a man who has been cherished in the community for over seven years as a leader and a neighbor. Urner took a few hours of his time to sit down with Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch Editor Kevin Haslam and discussed everything from the genesis to his term to the wonderful…

Residents on the 900 Block of Main Street in Royersford were invited to attend a public hearing at Borough Hall to voice their opinions on Tuesday night. The discussion was centered around whether the current residential zoning of each property should be changed to office residential. Section 2304 of the Borough Code states in order for a change to be made in zoning, a petition needs to be signed with 50-percent of the block in favor of the change, which was satisfied by residents in July. Royersford's Planning Commission met in July to review recommendations from the Montgomery County Planning Commission, which recommended against the change to keep with the nature of a borough residential appearance and to prevent extra traffic expected …
