Gun Sales in Montgomery County on the Rise

As Capitol Hill debates gun control, sales and registrations in the county are booming.

Business is booming. Those in the gun-selling industry are finding a good deal of action in Montgomery County. According to an article in the Pottstown Mercury, the counter in spots like the French Creek Outfitters has seldom dropped below a dozen customers all day long. In the wake of the debates on Capitol Hill and President Barrack Obama's recommendations on gun control, the sales and registrations in the county have been on the rise. Many makes and models are sold out at local gun shops. "When asked about AR-15 rifles, one employee shook his head. 'We’ve been sold out of those for weeks,' he said," quoted the Mercury article. Many local vendors are noting the sales went up more after Wednesday's statements by the president. "Gun shops …

Romney 'Victims' Video Shot at 76ers Co-Owner Marc Leder's Home

Leder hosted $50,000-per-person fundraiser during which Romney called 47 percent of voters 'victims.'

Gov. Mitt Romney said in a video recently released by liberal magazine Mother Jones that 47 percent of American voters consider themselves "victims." "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," said Romney in the video. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what… These are people who pay no income tax.” These comments were made at the home of 76ers …

In a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-13th District), Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards and Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), discussed the differing views of the presidential candidates.

Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (D-13th District), Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards and Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), held a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse. Schwartz began by saying with the selection of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s running mate, “We did want to talk about the really strong contrast between the visions for our country and the way we're going to get there." She added, “There is such a stark contrast on priorities and choices.” She highlighted seniors, specifically medicare, as well as education as some of those differences. Schwartz told those who gathered that Romney and Ryan are campaigning on the idea that tax cuts for the wealthy will create a …

Poll: What Do You Think of Obamacare Decision?

Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators release reactions to the ruling.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Affordable Care Act, known colloquially as "Obamacare," upholding the constitutionality of the act in a ruling Thursday morning, according to a report from the Supreme Court website. Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators released reactions to the ruling. Sen. Pat Toomey (R): “I am extremely disappointed. Today’s decision is a jarring blow to our 200-year-old tradition of constitutionally limited government and personal liberty,” Toomey said. “ The Supreme Court’s decision doesn’t change the fact that President Obama’s health care law is a terrible policy that will impose new taxes, increase the cost of health care and cost our country jobs. It is now up to Congress to repeal Obamacare and enact common-…

As pro-lifers, we are extremely saddened by the profoundly wrong decision of the Supreme Court regarding Obamacare. It’s an outrage that they have chosen to endorse the government’s unconstitutional ability to force all Americans to not only purchase a product they may or may not want but to subsidize abortions as well. The decision today is truly this generation's Roe v. Wade. We we must send a …   more ›
