Howard Goodrich, 85, Longtime Royersford Resident

Mr. Goodrich was a member of the Royersford Lions Club and the Spring-Ford Historical Society.

Howard R. Goodrich, 85, Royersford, PA, died May 3, 2013 in Parkhouse Provident Point after battling a number of medical problems since September 2012.  He was born April 12, 1928, in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Howard R. Goodrich, Sr. and Elizabeth Ray Goodrich, 4935 Hazel Ave., Philadelphia. He was educated at West Philadelphia High School, Temple University and the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.  He served in the U.S. Navy 1946 through 1948 as a radar man aboard the USS Taconic (flagship), having earned a Victory Medal.  He was a Pennsylvania licensed Associate Real Estate Broker having earned his C. P. C. U. from The American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters, Inc.  He was the former owner …

Anthony Bielski, 88, Polish Underground Army Member

The former Spring City resident shared his Holocaust story with others through a survivors' group.

Anthony J. Bielski, age 88, husband of the late Irene D. (Winters) Bielski, of Collegeville, PA, formerly of Spring City, PA died late Sunday evening, April 7, 2013 in the home of his daughter in Collegeville.  Born in Poland, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanislaus  Bielski.  He attended school in Poland, and was also a member of the Polish Underground Army during World War II. He also spent time training German Shepherd dogs with the United States Army in Europe.   Mr. Bielski came to live in America in 1957.  He worked at the Philadelphia Gear Company in King of Prussia for many years as a machinist.   He was a member of the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Spring City. More recently, he attended St. Eleanors R.C. Church …

Barbara Freeman, 78: Lincoln High School Graduate, Mother of Four

Freeman enjoyed water skiing and traveling to Ocean City.

Barbara "Bobby" (Freeman) Richter, age 78, wife of Alan F. Richter, Sr., of Upper Providence Township, PA died Saturday morning, March 30, 2013 in the Neighborhood Hospice Center in West Chester, PA.  Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Albert "Bunny" Freeman and Irene "Rene" (Levin)  Freeman.  She was a graduate of the Lincoln High School in Philadelphia.  She was a member of the water ski team.  Mrs. Richter enjoyed water skiing up until her mid 50's.  She was a devoted wife and adored the time she could spend with her family.  She also enjoyed her time in Ocean City, NJ.  In addition to her husband of 45 years, Mrs. Richter is survived by four children: Alan F. Joan M. Alexander, age 59, of Royersford, PA died Sunday, March 24, 2013 in her home.  Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Josephine (Mazur) Alexander.  Joan was a graduate of the Spring-Ford High School.  She worked as a dental assistant for several years.  She also worked as a clerk for several District Justices in the area.  She enjoyed live music and attending jewelry making classes.  Joan had a great sense of humor she loved to use with all of her nieces and nephews.  She was also a animal lover. June (Kimmey) Smith Hookway, 84, of Royersford, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.  She was the wife of the late Charles M.O. Smith and Charles F. Hookway.  She and Charles would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on Saturday. She was born in Lower Chichester Twp. to the late Isaac and Mildred (Battis) Kimmey.  June was a 1946 graduate of Smyrna High School, Smyrna, Delaware.  Mrs. Hookway was a licensed hairdresser and also worked in manufacturing for Philco and Spring City Knitting Mill. June was an active member of Parker Ford Church of the Brethren.  She was a member of the Womens’ Fellowship and “Stitchers in Christ”.  Talented in needlework, she quilted many prayer shawls and baby blankets. Dorothy L. App, age 89, of Upper Providence Township, PA, formerly of Exton, PA, died Thursday morning, January 10, 2013 in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe Nursing Home in Upper Providence.  Born in Selinsgrove, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Ruth E. (Jarrett) App.  Miss App worked for the K-Mart in Exton, PA for many years.  Miss. App is survived by one sister: Ruth Going, of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by four siblings: Elizabeth M. Priori, Edna G. App, Robert L. App, and Russell K. Matthew J. Ferenchak, 69, of Butler, formerly of Limerick, died Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2013, at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 16, 1943, in Norristown, Montgomery County, he was the son of Edith Detterer Ferenchak, of Norristown and the late John Ferenchak, S  Matthew was a 1961 graduate of the Upper Merion High School.  He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Matthew was a partner in LaFern Industrial, a machine tool consulting company, retiring in 2003.  He was an avid golfer, as well as a loyal Phillies and Eagles fan. James D. Hetrick, Sr., husband of Kaye A. (Shantz) Hetrick, of Spring City, PA died early Monday morning, January 7th, 2013 in the Paoli Hospital, Paoli, PA.  Born in West Buffalo Township, Union County, PA, he was a son of the late Robert F. Dennis W. Flynn, age 61, of Limerick, PA, died Sunday afternoon, January 6th, 2013 in the Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, PA.  Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of Dempsey M. Flynn, of Limerick, PA and the late Violet (DiCola) Flynn.  He was a 1969 graduate of the Spring-Ford High School.  He was a varsity wrestler for the high school.  A veteran, he served for the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Flynn loved music.  He enjoyed writing and performing.  He worked in sales most of his life in several different locations and for several different companies.  He also enjoyed fishing, baseball and playing tennis.
