The eastern PA area of Wives Behind the Badge will hold an informational and social meeting Nov. 16.
“One Family. One Vision. One Badge” This is the motto of the nonprofit Wives Behind the Badge, whose mission seeks to provide emotional and financial support to the families and members serving law enforcement throughout the nation. According to the organization’s website, Rose Winick, wife of a police sergeant in Southern California, started an online forum for other police wives, hoping to seek advice and support from those who would best understand. The forum, started in 2006, was said to have quickly grown to over 200 members across the country, as well as in Canada, England and Australia. Fundraising events continue in support of fallen officer Brad Fox's wife and children.
Two local companies are holding events that will benefit the Fox Childrens' Fund, a fund that was set up to provide for the family of fallen Plymouth Township police officer Brad Fox. On Friday, October 26, at 1:30pm, the Walgreens at 30 Ridge Pike, Limerick will be having a Child ID Kit day. The store encourages kids to come in costume, and get their photo taken. In cooperation with the Limerick Police Department, they will be providing ID kits for children. The store is also raffling off a Halloween basket. The proceeds from that raffle will go to the Fox Childrens' Fund. On Tuesday, October 30, California Tortilla will be donating 20% of customers' check totals to the Fox Childrens' Fund. Several New Hanover Township neighbors have banded together to raise money.
Three different locations will host bake sales this Sunday, September 23, that will benefit the family of slain Plymouth Township K9 officer Brad Fox. Christi Kelly of Kelly's Worldclass Automotive said that the sales were put together by neighbors who live in the Foxes' subdivision in New Hanover Township. The three locations are: Kelly told Patch in an email that they are not only the Foxes' neighbors, they are also personal friends. "We have known Brad and Lynsay for almost 2 years," Kelly said. "A group of us in the neighborhood can be regularly seen with each other almost every week." Each location will have baked goods, soda, and water.
