Limerick Police Investigate High-Dollar Retail Thefts

Several arrests were made last week in thefts at the outlets.

Limerick Township police responded to 141 calls in the week between November 27 and December 4.  Several of those incidents involved thefts at Kohl's and at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. Arrests were made in two of the cases. Arrests and charges noted here do not indicate a conviction.  20 shirts stolen from Calvin Klein Officer Kevin McGuigan responded to a call from the Calvin Klein store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets on Nov. 28.  An employee at the store reported that a Hispanic male with salt-and-pepper hair and wearing glasses was seen walking in the womens' clothing section. Kohl's Targeted by Multiple Thieves

Four separate thefts were reported by the store in the last week.

Loss prevention staff at the Royersford Kohl's were kept busy over the last week by four incidents of retail theft, according to police reports filed by Limerick Township police officers.  September 24 A Pottstown woman was issued a summary citation for theft on September 24 after allegedly taking $72.14 worth of merchandise from the store.  Anita Lewis, 51, of Keim Street in Pottstown was detained by Kohl's loss prevention officer Katie Sabino after she reported took the items and attempted to leave the store with them.  Kohl's chose not to prosecute, according to police records, so Lewis was cited and released.  September 25 Sergeant Paul Marchese responded to the Kohl's on September 25 for a retail theft in progress.  Sabino reported …

Royersford Police Blotter

Two DUI incidents were logged this week.

The following items include information provided by the Royersford Police Department. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction. The Royersford Police Department responded to 69 incidents between September 18 and September 25, 2012.  Lewis Road DUI Shortly after midnight on September 21, Corporal Thomas Nerlinger stopped a car on Lewis Road that had run up on a curb while making a turn.  The driver pulled over in a parking lot on Lewis Road. Nerlinger reported that while he was behind the vehicle, the driver allegedly reversed and almost struck Nerlinger's patrol car.  Nerlinger administered a certified breath test to the driver, 24-year-old Paul Vrabel of Royersford.  Vrabel's blood-alcohol content, according to the …

Several thefts occurred this week in the township.

The Limerick Township Police responded to 166 incidents between September 19 and September 25, 2012.  Seafood appears to be a popular theft target, as another person was arrested at the Giant grocery store on Township Line Road for allegedly stealing two bags of frozen shrimp.  56-year-old Kenneth Miller was arrested and charged with theft after Giant employees told police he was observed allegedly placing two bags of uncooked shrimp in his jacket and walking out of the store.  Miller was detained by loss prevention staff before being arrested by Officer Patrick Roche. A records check showed Miller had several prior convictions for retail theft and was on probation in Chester County.  Miller was arraigned and bail was set at $15,000 …

Man Found Hiding in Applebee's Ceiling

Employees noticed a man had walked into the restroom at Applebee's and then vanished.

ROYERSFORD, PA—A homeless man was found concealed in the ceiling of a local Applebee's on Sept. 20.  Employees called police to report a suspicious person who had walked into the Royersford restaurant and gone into the restroom. The employees told police they thought the man might have been wearing a wig. When they checked the restroom, the person appeared to have vanished. Employees then noticed that an access panel in the ceiling had been moved and that there were footprints on a toilet below the panel.  Limerick police officer Timothy DiGregorio entered through the access panel, and reportedly found 44-year-old Leslie Hornung III in the crawlspace. Police found a wig and gloves in the crawlspace after Hornung exited. The report states …

The Royersford Police Department responded to 77 incidents from 8/28/2012 to 9/4/2012. Royersford police received two complaints on September 1 and 2 regarding 26-year-old Autumn Evanik of Norristown. On September 1, Patrolman Kyle Heffernan reported that the complainant, an ex-boyfriend, alleged that Evanik was threatening him via text and voicemail messages. Police reported that they listened to the voicemail messages and that Evanik allegedly made threatening and racially charged statements. Charges for harrassment and racial intimidation are pending, according to police. You left out the hit and run that occurred on the 500 block of Main Street in Royersford. One car was totaled and the 2nd car was damaged. Hit and Run's on Main Street are an ongoing issue. Royersford Police Blotter Royersford Police sent out a press release reporting 80 incidents in the borough from August 20 to 27.  Two burglaries were noted by police in the press release, both on August 24. Officer John O'Keefe responded to a call around noon on August 24 to a vacant property on 2nd Avenue. The caller reported to police that the last time he was there, everything was intact, but when he arrived on the 24th he noticed the basement door had been forced open. O'Keefe reported that a property search revealed that copper water lines and copper tubing comprising 70 percent of the baseboard heating elements had been removed from the property.  A second call the same day sent O'Keefe to a home in the 800 block of Walnut Street. …

The following items include information recorded in Limerick Township Police Department incident reports. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction. Limerick Township Police responded to 185 incidents between July 30 and August 6, 2012. On July 30, police responded to a call from the Texas Roadhouse restaurant at 70 Buckwalter Road, Royersford.  Sergeant Paul Marchese, assisted by Upper Providence and Royersford police, reported that a domestic disturbance occurred between 21-year-old Archie Davis and his wife.  Davis and his wife were allegedly arguing inside the restaurant, then left the restaurant and were arguing in the parking lot. 230 incidents handled by police this week

In addition to arrests in a diner disturbance case and multiple car burglaries, the Limerick Township Police Department handled three thefts from the Kohl's department store on South Township Line Road in Royersford. Kohl's security reported to police on July 23 that Joshua Romanishan, 34, of Wind Gap, PA, was observed allegedly hiding articles of clothing in his pants. Security also told police they observed a female accomplice helping Romanishan. Romanishan named the accomplice to police but Kohl's declined to press charges. Police found in searching records that Romanishan had a prior conviction for retail theft in June. He was arrested, charged with theft, and bail was set at $5,000. Arrest Made In Two Burglaries

Stolen items recovered

On July 19, Limerick police arrested James M. Murray, Jr., 23, of 1283 Township Line Road, Royersford, and under questioning, Murray admitted to committing two recent burglaries where cash, jewelry and an antique handgun were stolen.  Earlier in the day, Officer Brian Tyler stopped Murray, whose backpack contained a hammer and a screwdriver. Murray told Tyler than the tools were from a trade program he is involved in.  Tyler continued surveillance on Murray, according to a press release from police chief William Albany, while police contacted Murray's probation officer. Tyler saw Murray exit his house and go to a wooded area nearby. Murray then allegedly approached Tyler, wielding a hammer. Tyler reported that he felt threatened and drew …
