About three dozen people lined Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Friday.

President Barack Obama visited a toy factory in Hatfield Township on Friday, citing it as an example of the type of business that would suffer if Congress does not act soon to prevent the country from running over the "fiscal cliff," a series of tax increases and cuts in spending that are due to come into effect at the beginning of the new year. According to multiple news sources, President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Hatfield on Friday as part of a tour to make a public case for his administration's plan for addressing the impending "fiscal cliff." So what is the fiscal cliff? It's the changes expected to go into effect when the 2011 Budget Control Act expires at the end of the year. Among the changes are: At the same time, spending cuts agreed on in last year's debt ceiling agreement will go into effect, meaning steep cuts to things like the defense budget and Medicare. Mutliple media outlets are calling President Barack Obama the projected winner of Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for Barack Obama, and since the 1990s, has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race three out of five times. Former Gov. Mitt Romney and Obama campaigned aggressively in Pennsylvania. The state has typically been a Democratic stronghold in recent presidential elections. Community members were challenged to spread awareness of Voter ID Law at the opening of the Pottstown field office.
Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards and the staff of Organizing for America Pennsylvania (OFA PA) joined forces to open a new field office in Pottstown on Wednesday, August 22nd. OFA PA and Commissioner Richards took the opportunity to inform those in attendance of their mission to help ensure that President Obama is reelected this November.
