Don't count the county commissioner out just yet.
As Patch has previously reported, Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor is still undecided on whether to run or not in the 2014 Pennsylvania governor race. Castor's run against current Republican Gov. Tom Corbett once before, and it is unclear if he'll make a run in the coming year's primary. According to TribLive.com, Castor may want a rematch of the 2004 attorney general primaries. Castor told the Trib "he doesn't want the GOP to repeat the mistake it made in 2006 by backing then-Sen. Rick Santorum for re-election." "Castor, 51, called Corbett a 'ham-handed' politician who has failed to deliver on a conservative agenda," said the Trib. "He said Corbett blew his opportunity to push through conservative priorities, such as a right-to…

Castor said he began considering a run for governor after the fall elections. He says his campaign against Corbett would not be a 'grudge match.'
Bruce Castor, the minority Republican member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, started "sticking his toe" in the waters of the 2014 race for Pennsylvania governor after the fall elections. "Now," Castor said in a video interview with Pennsylvania Cable Network, "it's more up to the ankles." Castor said he saw the defeat of a slate of candidates who he said were largely selected by Corbett as a referendum on the Governor's platform. "The Governor has expended his political capital, but not on the things that we care about or the things that he campaigned on," Castor said, citing pension reform, property tax reform, and right-to-work legislation as examples. Castor said the national economic recovery has proceeded "three times…

There's a common saying that many have used to point out why the right wing tends to outmaneuver and defeat the left wing-Leftists look for traitors, while conservatives look for converts. All this talk of RINO's gives me the impression that elements within the right wing of the US is looking for traitors more than converts at the current moment.   more ›

Obama up by 3.9 in PA, in Real Clear Politics polling average, with individual polls (including the conservative leaning Rasmussen), showing as much as 5 or 6 point Obama lead in PA: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/pa/pennsylvania_romney_vs_obama-1891.html But I have to wonder what any Romney voters are thinking. Mayors of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Allentown weigh in on Romney's running mate.
The Democratic National Committee Rapid Response Team issued a release on Sunday featuring statements from three Pennsylvania mayors – Philadelphia's Michael Nutter, Pittsburgh's Luke Ravenstahl and Allentown's Ed Pawlowski – on Mitt Romney's choice of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as running mate. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter: "If there was any doubt that Mitt Romney was the wrong choice for people in Philadelphia and cities across this country, today’s pick of Paul Ryan as a running mate makes it crystal clear just how wrong his priorities are. The Romney Ryan budget is an attack on our most precious resource, the very people who make up the fabric of this country: our parents, our children, our soldiers and our seniors. "Paul Ryan is the…

Jack, I said Castor finished 3rd out of four people running and all the stats you provided did is prove me correct. In fact in shows he barely beat the other Republican. As I sadi before, state law requires at least one person from the majority party on the Commission which is the only reason he still has a job. Clearly by the voter turn out and results, if a 3rd Democrat were allowed to run, it'…   more ›
