Spring City Man Pleads Guilty In Robberies
Daniel Mungin, of Spring City, and an accomplice have both pleaded guilty to a series of armed robberies in which they terrorized their victims by wearing a hockey mask and brandishing a machete.
The Pottstown Mercury reports that 22-year-old Daniel Mungin of Spring City pleaded guilty on August 9 in Montgomery County Court to a series of armed robberies that he committed in June 2011. Mungin and an accomplice, 20-year-old Kyle Weikel of Royersford, were arrested after Mungin was identified by several eyewitnesses to the crime. Clerks in each store reported that a man wearing a hockey mask and brandishing a large knife or machete demanded money and stole lighters and cigarettes from the stores. According to a press release from June 2011, Mungin was arrested at a Pottstown 7-Eleven by Pottstown police, who then found Weikel in a red Honda Civic behind the store. I don't see the primary perp getting less than 10 years just based on the number of robberies. He may be out in 8 but that still is a good amount of time he'll be off our streets. The other kid looks like he may me mentally challenged and based on his cooperation, will be out sooner and could turn his life around. My guess is the perp was using the weaker kid to drive him to do these robberies.   more ›
