Local authorities are searching for a man who has exposed himself, masturbated in public before walkers in both townships.
After five reported cases, the area's police are working together to find a man that has been exposing himself in public. Lower Providence and Upper Providence Township Police Departments are investigating five reported incidents of indecent exposure occurring between April 6 and May 12 in both Lower Providence or Upper Providence townships. The incidents have occurred in the late afternoon and early evening as area residents walk along roads or trails, according to police. Each of the five reports were filed as having happened between 3:20 and 7:25 p.m. Police say that the man would be in place prior to the walkers approaching, jump out of his vehicle without any pants on, or with his pants pulled down. The offender would look at the …
The new truck, dubbed Tower 99, adds some needed versatility to Black Rock's fleet.
Black Rock Fire Co. has added a 2012 Pierce truck to its apparatus lineup, according to an article in the Phoenix. The new truck has a one-hundred-foot-long ladder, five feet longer than the copany's previous ladder truck. Black Rock Assistant Chief Jim Callahan told the Phoenix that new buildings in the area, such as the Hilton Garden Inn at the Oaks exit of Route 422 and the Providence Town Center shopping center located on Route 29, necessitated a longer ladder. One benefit to the newer ladder is that a five-foot ladder can be attached to the tower's bucket, which, according to Callahan, is helpful with buildings that have tall facades like the ones at Providence Town Center. The truck cost $980,000, which was paid from a variety of …
The Friday night fire was confined to one home, but caused damage to the attic.
A fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. Friday evening at an apartment in the Orchard Court complex in Upper Providence Township. Royersford Fire Chief Gary Wezel told Patch that when fire crews arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the roof and attic area of 84 Orchard Court. When firefighters entered the building, the crackling of flames was audible from the attic. A resident was overheard telling neighbors that "the bathroom fan just blew up." The apartment is the center apartment in a row of five apartments. The two apartments on either side were filled with smoke but did not suffer fire damage. The fire was contained to the attic of 84 Orchard Court. Wezel said that the attic was full of the residents' belongings. Firefighters were …
The victims, a mother and her two children, suffered what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Last updated 9:10 p.m. Thursday A mother and her two young children were injured Thursday evening in a two car collision on Ridge Pike in Upper Providence Township. Officer Scott Reynolds of the Upper Providence Township Police department said the injured driver, a woman in her 20s, and her two children sustained what he described as non-life-threatening injuries. The mother and children were from "the Collegeville area," Reynolds said. Reynolds said the male driver of the second car, a 17-year-old from Lansdale, was not injured. His car was traveling westbound on Ridge Pike when he attempted to make a left turn into the Court at Upper Providence shopping plaza shortly after 6:30 p.m. His car crossed in front of the woman's vehicle, which …

Apparently, someone wandered into the eastbound lane. Maybe, it was the car's mechanic failure or maybe the driver was not watching where they were going. David, what is the update?   more ›
The early afternoon incident took place at the Spring-Ford intermediate school.
A man hunting with his dogs led to a police response near a Spring-Ford school on Thursday afternoon. The 70-year-old Spring City man was hunting legally and not on the property of the Spring-Ford Intermediate School when police interviewed him, according to Sgt. Robert Solorio of the Upper Providence Police. According to an email sent to parents by the Spring-Ford Area School District, school officials received a report at about 12:35 p.m. of a hunter walking on the north side of Route 422, adjacent to the school. "Immediately, the police, the school principal, and our security were informed of the situation. Any students out for recess were quickly returned to their classrooms," the district's email said. The man was carrying a shotgun…

I question the determination that he was hunting legally. The Pennsylvania Game and Wildlife Code creates safety zones and makes it illegal to hunt within 150 yards of any occupied residence or building or within 150 yards of any playground of a school. If he was within 150 yards of the school or any play area outside the school, he was not hunting legally. At the very least, hopefully the police…   more ›

Sherid will retire in January 2014. According to the township, applications are being accepted for until Feb. 22, 2013 for the role. With a population of around 22,000 the township says it is seeking someone with "a minimum of 15 years in law enforcement, 10 years of which in a police supervisory/command position." The following comes from Carl Hessler Jr., of The Pottstown Mercury: COURTHOUSE — During dramatic and emotional testimony, eyewitnesses to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian called the tragic event “surreal” and shocking as the alleged hit-and-run driver’s trial got under way. “I started saying, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God’ and then she hit her. This creep is most likely already in the system that's why he is still walking around. Someone will say he is the victim and we are over-reacting. I totally agree w/SickOfit. Scumb-bags like this are never cured. One can only hope that this guy gets run over and put out of commission for good the next time he jumps out of his car w/or w/o his pants.   more ›
