Rabies Clinics Offered by Montgomery County

Various locations will host the summer project.

The Montgomery County Health Department (MCHD) will be conducting its annual Low-Cost Rabies Immunization Clinics on Saturdays in June for the the program's 22nd consecutive year. "As in previous years, these clinics are located throughout the county in order to ensure that resident pet owners have access to this disease prevention service," said Jessica Willingham, communications assistant for the Montgomery County Office of Communications. Lookout, Getaway Driver Will Serve 10 to 20 After Burglarizing Montco Homes

After being apprehended in 2010 in Abington, a Philadelphia man will face a prison sentence.

He claims he was only the lookout and getaway driver, but a Montgomery County judge decided he deserved a serious punishment for his actions. William Perkins, 64, of Philadelphia, has served much of his life in prison, and according to court dockets has a rap sheet several pages long. He was sentenced Wednesday to 10 to 20 years behind bars for his role in a string of burglaries that occurred in 2010. As Patch reported at the time, Perkins, who also used the aliases of John Potter and William Potter, was taken into custody on Oct. 12, 2010 along with  John Daniel Wilson, 48, of Philadelphia. Levis Brings the Taste of South Philly to Abington

The traditional and famous Levis hot dogs can be found in Abington, as well as in delis around Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.

Levis Hot Dogs, which has been around in South Philadelphia for over 100 years, had been resurrected in Abington by Elliot Hirsch, owner of the new Levi Hot Dogs on Old York Rd. Hirsh bought Levis in 1990, but closed the business for a few years when a number of different business plans failed. A year ago, Hirsch opened the Levis Hot Dog shop in Abington, following the original Levis hot dog recipe for all beef, lean hot dogs, right out of South Philly. Hirsch, who has a background in product development, spent nearly two years testing the hot dog recipe with a number of manufacturers before finding the manufacturer that could produce hot dogs that look and taste like the ones everyone remembers. Verizon Customers Without 911 Due to Outage

An outage at a Hatboro Verizon center has temporarily blocked subscribers from calling Montgomery County 911

According to a Pottstown Mercury Facebook post, Verizon Mobile customers are without access to Montgomery County 911. The outage affects about seven municipalities, according to PhillyBurbs: Hatboro, Upper and Lower Moreland, Upper Dublin, Horsham, Abington and Cheltenham. Due to an outage at a Verizon central office in Hatboro at around 8 a.m., customers will be temporarily unable to contact the 911 call center and are instead advised to contact their local police department for emergency assistance. Over in Bucks County at around 8 a.m., the 911 system there was out of service due to maintenance. Those needing emergency assistance were advised to call area police agencies. I know for a fact that all emergency centers including hospitals have back up generators. I find it appaling that the back up generator was not working during a power outage. That is a disgrace! Hopefully verizon will make sure that it is working in future!!   more ›

The Rams' seasons are well underway now and so far, we've seen much success across the boards. The girls basketball team has only suffered two losses and the wrestling team has only suffered one, which came to Biglerville this past weekend. Boys basketball is catching up after a few tough non-league losses, while winter track continues to test the waters and qualifies more and more competitors for states.
