Here are the five top matchups to look for this week in sports.

School is officially underway for the Spring-Ford Area School District and Spring-Ford High School sports are already in action, with girls and boys golf adding wins in the first week. Now, the Rams are set to kick off the rest of the athletics action with big matchups across the board. So, check out these matchups and articles that we have lined up this week in Rams sports! 1. Girls' Tennis Season and Home Opener vs. Phoenixville H.S. (3:30 p.m., Tuesday) - The girls opened up with a 6-1 win over Phoenixville last year and eighth-year head coach Todd Reagan said that set the momentum for last year's 11-2 campaign. Three words loom in everyone's mind as summer vacations begin to come to a close, the rain begins to pour, indicating the soon arrival of the changing colors of the leaves, and sports practices begin: Back to School. The SFASD board of education met for the first time since June to kick off the 2011-2012 school year and new superintendent Dr. David Goodin was officially introduced. The board is also awaiting approval for the new assistant superintendent, who was announced this week in a press release. Spring City borough council's Mike Hays chimed in on the bridge closure and Limerick Township is planning development projects that have the residents buzzing about the potential dangers to their homes. Big Shoes to Fill for Boys' Soccer

A season preview for Rams boys' soccer.

The Spring-Ford Rams boys' soccer squad is coming off its first ever PAC-10 Championship and is gearing up for another big season. However, you won't see many familiar faces on this year's team. Eighth year head coach Doug Landis reported the loss of 12 players from last year's team - 10 seniors and two underclassman transfers. Ten of the 12 lost players were starters. "Last year’s team was probably the best team that’s ever gone through Spring-Ford," Landis said. "We finished off 18-1-2. We were undefeated in the regular season and won our league championship.
