The 146th District representative said the absentee ballots are still being counted.
Rep. Thomas Quigley (R-146) told Patch today that there are still quite a few absentee votes to be counted before the outcome of his race against Mark Painter is determined. "Its my understanding that they're still counting," Quigley said. Unofficial results indicated Painter had pulled off an upset victory over Quigley in Tuesday's election by just over 200 votes. However, due to the delayed deadline to turn in absentee ballots, some votes were not turned in to the county until Monday, November 5. "We'll know for sure [who won] probably next week," Quigley said.

Rep. Thomas Quigley isn't conceding his contest against Mark Painter just yet.
While unofficial results from Montgomery County are showing that Mark Painter upset incumbent Rep. Thomas Quigley in yesterday's election, The Pottstown Mercury reports that Quigley isn't ready to give up. According to the Mercury, there are possibly a thousand absentee votes left to be counted. Quigley said that the deadline extension caused by last week's hurricane resulted in many absentee votes being held by the county. Those votes will be counted beginning on Friday. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice presidential running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you." The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. Rep. Thomas Quigley's campaign announced surprise defeat.
The Pottstown Mercury is reporting that Mark Painter has defeated incumbent Rep. Thomas Quigley in the 146th District, which includes Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Royersford, Upper Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove, and a portion of New Hanover. Quigley's campaign announced the unofficial results just a little while ago. Painter, the former tax collector for Limerick Township, was running against Quigley for the second time. Quigley has been the 146th District representative since 2004. Painter's victory is credited to huge voter turnout and to the Democratic vote in Pottstown. Democratic Montgomery County Commissioners Josh Shapiro, Leslie Richards, and their Republican colleague Bruce Castor said Tuesday afternoon that Election Day in the county is proceeding smoothly. The commissioners were visiting a polling location at the Whitpain Township building, where they said that they had not received any reports of voting machines not working properly or other irregularities. Castor said all indications were that voters at county polling places were "well behaved, [with] no partisanship, just waiting their turn." Election Day is finally upon us and polls will be open in Pennsylvania from 7 a.m to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. Poll workers may ask you for a valid photo ID but you are not required to present photo ID to vote in this election. If you do not provide the requested ID, you will be given information on the requirements for voting in 2013. With less than 24 hours until the polls open in Pennsylvania, former President Bill Clinton stopped at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell to rally Democratic voters. Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro, Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, as well as Congressional candidates George Badey and Kathy Boockvar preceded Clinton at the rostrum.
