We are asking the community its opinion on empty stores. Here's your chance to express your views.
Last week, we saw a "Visions for Vacancies" success, when we heard VC Dollar was coming to Limerick in one of our former empty storefront locations. I'll be chatting with the owner this week. But, in the meantime, let's continue our series with yet another location. This shop is located on Buckwalter Road and is surrounded by an array of different types of shops. There's a dentist, good will store, a pet shop, a Japanese steak house and a cigar store all in this shopping center, just to name a few. So, what else may be needed here? I think we can definitely rule out food, as there's also a pizza place, an Applebee's, and a Chick-fil-A, too. What about a craft store? Or maybe a discount electronics/gaming store? I was recently searching for…

Well, the moment has finally arrived. The moment that you've all been seemingly waiting for. Is it obvious? See the above photo. Residents, citizens and other interested parties have been begging for a Trader Joe's, possibly in this location, or basically anywhere it will fit. So, for this week's segment, we take a look at the old Limerick Acme located off of Ridge Pike. The store has been closed for about a year now with no major signs of activity. What makes this an appealing spot for a Trader Joe's? The size of the store? The fact that it can handle another grocery outlet? Is another type of store more appropriate here? What would you like to see go here? Tell us what you think and why. I have a feeling this is going to be a well-…

We are asking the community its opinion on empty stores. Here's your chance to express your views.
We continue this week with our public opinion segment on empty storefronts. We're heading back over to the Amelia's Shopping Center, where we once visited the old Chic Snyder's spot. There is yet another empty storefront in this shopping center. This one is closer to the Dollar Store. I'm not really sure what would fit here, as the unit is not quite as "noticible" as ones we've featured in the past. The sign on the building says it is 2,075 square feet. The possibilities could be endless with your thoughts! What do you want to see go here? A lot of people have suggested the need for a new local bakery in the past, but what about a specialty butcher of sorts? Or, how about a sushi takeout place? I've also heard requests for a Saladworks in …

We are asking the community its opinion on empty stores. Here's your chance to express your views.
We continue this week with our public opinion segment on empty storefronts. We're heading back to Limerick in the shopping center that features Rascal's Fitness and Piazza Presto. We recently featured the end unit of this shopping center, to which suggestions rolled in for Trader Joe's, Monkey Joe's, Raising Cane's, Panera Bread, Chuck E. Cheese, Modell's, etc. Now, let's take a look at the unit between Erin's Salon Etc and Rascal's, which was a dry cleaner. I'm not really sure what would fit here besides a dry cleaner, as it's all I've known the place to be. There is some construction going on there, so the dry cleaner may return, or something else. So, let's dream... What do you want to see go here? A new coffee shop? A book store? How …

We are asking the community its opinion on empty stores. Here's your chance to express your views.
This week marks a full month that we've been asking the community what types of businesses they'd like to see occupy our area's empty storefronts. We started with the old Country Farms location on the corner of N. Lewis and Main in Royersford, and there was an overwhelming response. Then we went to downtown Royersford to get opinions on the old Salon Elite location. Then, we went to the border of Royersford and Limerick to the Amelia's shopping center, where the old Chic Snyders used to be. We had some interesting comments there. Last week, we went to Ridge Pike and N. Lewis Road in Limerick, where the new Rascal's Fitness is. People weighed in on the topic and we had some pretty unique responses, including suggestions like a new Hallmark …

The past two weeks, we've been asking the community what types of businesses they'd like to see occupy our area's empty storefronts. We started with the old Country Farms location on the corner of N. Lewis and Main in Royersford, and there was an overwhelming response. Last week, we went to downtown Royersford to get opinions on the old Salon Elite location. So, we want to continue our weekly segment to get more valued opinions from our readers. This week, we head to the border of Royersford and Limerick and back to N. Lewis Road at the Amelia's shopping center. Check out the photos above, and you'll see corner unit of the shopping center, which has both a liquor license and an outdoor patio and bar. The space is obviously the type of real…

I would love to see a farmers market go in there, maybe something like the one in Strafford or even the one in Bird-in-Hand. That way many local businesses could participate and bring all the wonderful local fare to one location.   more ›
