I think this is great HOWEVER Limericks Twp is in desperate need of more important things first. Like ways to attract businesses that offer more than minimum wages jobs. The vision in this township is sorely lacking. How many more drug stores and Wawa gas stations do we need?   more ›

Limerick, Linfield Fire Co. Look to Expand

The fire companies presented their budget and long-term plans to the board.

Both Limerick and Linfield Fire Companies are hoping to expand in the next year or two, according to Limerick Chief Ken Shuler and Linfield Chief Don Maleta.  Both chiefs said their equipment and personnel needs have outgrown their current buildings. Both stations need shower and sleeping facilities.  "During the hurricane, we had people sleeping on the floor," Shuler said.  Over the last few years, Limerick FD has added an ambulance station to its location which cut ambulance response time from 12-14 minutes down to 3-6 minutes. Linfield FD hopes to add an ambulance there, too.  Linfield's firefighters are in the process of being certified for water rescue operations.  Both departments would also like to have a traning facility in this …

A local Scout helped beautify a township park with his Eagle Scout project.

The board discussed the township's hurricane efforts, recognized a local Eagle Scout, and discussed a zoning request from Spring Ford Country Club. Hurricane Sandy  During supervisors' comments, the board asked Police Chief William Albany to talk about how the township's emergency management staff handled issues during the recent "superstorm". Albany said about 100 calls came in to the Emergency Operations Center during the storm.  This was the first time the township building had been used as the Emergency Operations Center.  Albany said he thought things went well in the new location…

How does a developer do a halfass job and put it on to the greater coomunity to finish or maintain. I get that taxpayers live there, but I dont- why should 99% of the other taxpayers who dont live there pick up the bill? If a developer has the financail(sp) responsibilty they must be forced to act. Any further dealings with developers must be with ravens claws' failures as a warning. Secondly, I …   more ›

Limerick Board to Retain Constellation as Energy Provider

The board voted on Tuesday night to re-up their contract with Constellation Energy for 4 more years.

Limerick Township's Board of Supervisors voted unanimously (minus supervisor Joseph St. Pedro, who was absent) on Tuesday night to keep Constellation Energy as the township's energy provider for the next four years. Due to deregulation, the township is required to bid out electrical supply. Two years ago, the township decided to join the Municipal Electrical Alliance, which is a state contract program.  At that time, the rates were very favorable, and now that the contract is up for renewal, township manager Dan Kerr said that "electric rates are at an historic low." A new four-year agreement would save the township $32,479 per year because the rates would be locked in at the current rate. Kerr said that if the township did not stay with …
