Proceeds from the annual Easter Flower Sale benefit the Linfield Fire Co. station.
The Linfield Fire Co., located at 1077 Main St. in Linfield, will hold the final day of its annual Easter Flower Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tulips, mums, hyacinths, azaleas and other colorful heralds of spring are on sale at company’s fire station, but are going fast. According to Lt. Dennis Rumler, a 44-year member of the Linfield Fire Company, the community has always shown strong support for its local firefighters by participating in the fire company’s fundraisers. “It’s a way to interact with the community,” Rumler said. “We get great support from the local residents and the businesses.” The Easter Flower Sale, which Rumler said the company has held for at least 50 years now, goes toward amenities and maintenance of the …

Emergency crews responded to a fire call in the Golf Ridge subdivision.
Limerick and Linfield Fire Department crews, among others, responded this evening to an emergency situation that turned out to be a home full of smoke from a basement heater. Limerick Fire Department deputy chief Glen Russell said that the house, on Dusseldorf Road in Limerick, was filled with smoke when the homeowner returned home. She called 911 and reported that all her smoke detectors were going off and the house was full of smoke. Fire crews arrived and located the problem in the basement. Russell said there was no fire, but the preliminary investigation showed it might be related to a heater for a turtle tank. Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half before the incident was over. Russell said that the only lasting effects …
The fire companies presented their budget and long-term plans to the board.
Both Limerick and Linfield Fire Companies are hoping to expand in the next year or two, according to Limerick Chief Ken Shuler and Linfield Chief Don Maleta. Both chiefs said their equipment and personnel needs have outgrown their current buildings. Both stations need shower and sleeping facilities. "During the hurricane, we had people sleeping on the floor," Shuler said. Over the last few years, Limerick FD has added an ambulance station to its location which cut ambulance response time from 12-14 minutes down to 3-6 minutes. Linfield FD hopes to add an ambulance there, too. Linfield's firefighters are in the process of being certified for water rescue operations. Both departments would also like to have a traning facility in this …
The Linfield Fire Company’s Annual Hayride of Horrors is canceled for 2011.
The following release was sent in by Mary Jo Rumler, representing the Linfield Fire Company: Are there really spirits, ghouls and ghosts that live along the Schuylkill River in Linfield? Maybe it’s the Hobbits of Hobbit Land folklore. This year the event was scheduled for Oct. 28-30. The disappointing news is due to a sinkhole on Trinley Road which is in the direct path of our "haunted" route, the event will be canceled. In 2009, after the first weekend was rained out, the second weekend found us all staring in disbelief as Norfolk Southern Railroad was tearing up the tracks along our scary path. As a result, the Haunted Hayride of 2009 was also canceled. Are there "restless souls" that are tampering with our Halloween fundraiser or just …
