Results of the trial for the 2011 hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a local woman.
Patricia Maurer, 75 of New Hanover, who was accused of a hit-and-run in April 2011 that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old pedestrian woman, was convicted of a felony charge of accidents involving death or personal injury on Friday, according to Carl Hessler Jr, of The Pottstown Mercury. Authorities originally looked for the driver of the fatal hit-and-run, who had fled the scene on April 27, 2011. Through her attorney, Maurer later admitted to driving the 2003 Toyota Camry that struck and killed Kristy Bender, as she walked home from her job at the Kohl's. Maybe if the pavement at Rite Aid wasn't completely torn up people wouldn't feel they would have to cross before that mess at the corner. Speed limits are set for a reason. Lenient or not, if you plan on doing 10 over you should be extra attentive in a residential area.   more ›
A look back at the week that was in Limerick, Royersford and Spring City.
It was a busy week for news in this first full week of February. However, it was not a pleasant one. On Monday, we saw a vehicle accident that blocked up Lewis Road by the 422 ramps, but that didn't compare to the events of the following day. Royersford saw the tragic and sad death of a Spring City resident, who was walking home with his cat from the Veterinarian. There was also an assault that day, that occured at 7-11. In other news, Limerick Township received a $150,000 donation from Exelon and awarded a $2.3 million contract for improvements to be done on Lewis Road. Did you miss something this week?
