Drunken Man Injured Spring City Chief, Police Say

A call regarding an unresponsive person ended in a struggle between the subject and police officers, according to a press release.

Spring City Police have charged a local resident with aggravated assault, assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, public drunkeness and disorderly conduct following an altercation Tuesday.  Police say Dean Roeseler, Jr., of Buckwalter Road, Spring City, was lying unresponsive on the sidewalk and yard of a home on Wall Street. When an ambulance crew and police arrived, the report says, they tried to rouse Roeseler from unconsciousness. Roeseler allegedly became physically combative with police and emergency responders and had to be forcibly subdued, police said. Once cuffed, police say he continued to struggle.  Spring City Police Chief Anthony Kuklinski sustained an injury to his hand, according to a report, which resulted in the…

What's the Most Expensive Item at Liberty?

The local thrift and home furnishing in Spring City offers a wide variety of unique finds.

It's a thrift store. You might not imagine the treasures it holds inside. But, for Debbie Bechtel, who has worked at the Spring City Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings store for its five years of operation, she's seen a lot come and go through the store. What's the most expensive item today? As of Friday morning, that would have to be the "gorgeous" bed set displayed in the front window. For $500, the entire set, including a cleaned mattress and box springs, black metallic bed frame and delicate pink bedspread, currently holds the "title" for the store's highest price tag. "I wish I could just take it home with me," said Bechtel. "It is just lovely." The store brings in a wide variety of goods. From movies and clothing, to housewares and …

I love the Liberty Thrift store. When I first was told to check it out I will admit I was apprehensive. I'm so glad I did as I found not only a wide variety of items, but very good quality furniture items. I purchased a love seat, a chair, a kitchen set that were all clean and in excellent condition. I highly recommend that local residents check it out if they are in the need for some furniture …   more ›

The Most Unique Instrument at George's? A Jumbie Jam, Of Course

You'll never guess what can be purchased for just $200.

Music buffs know to head to this mecca of musical instruments and accessories, but there a lot of unique finds inside the doors of George's Music. Located at 99 N. Main St., in Spring City, the music store is a true treasure trove of intesting guitars, drums and musical accessories. Every square inch of wall space is filled with fun finds. But, when asked what their most unique product was, store manager Tom Henderson said that was an easy call: The Jumbie Jam. After a second take and an ask for him to repeat and spell that product, I just had to see it. What on earth is a Jumbie Jam? While many steel drum sets top out over $1,000 or more, Henderson said the Jumbie Jam makes it an affordable instrument even for beginners. "It is one people…

Trust Your Hair With the Hands That Have 33 Years of Experience

Riverside Salon owner Tanya Plotts brings a lifetime of experience to her clients.

She's been doing perms, cuts and colors for going on 33 years now. I think she's considered about as expert as you can get. Tanya Plotts, of Limerick, owns and operates Riverside Salon. Tucked into the shopping center just behind Burger King, right over the river into Spring City, the salon has been at its current location for five years. Previously, Plotts had ran a larger salon for 21 years in the same development. She left her role for two years, but returned in the smaller spot for the last five. The old location offered nine tanning salons and six stylists, but these days, Plotts is happy with her smaller "only hair" salon. "She's a really great person," said her client, who declined to give her name. "She does my mother's hair, and …
