Dot Jones retires after 27 years.
The Limerick Township Board of Supervisors led off their meeting with a pair of resolutions honoring two local volunteers. Limerick Township Historical Society President Dot Jones is retiring after 27 years with the society. The board passed a resolution honoring and thankg her for her long service in preserving the history of the township. Jones was instrumental in getting the Hunsberger House placed on the National Register of Historic Places. She also helped design the township flag for the township's 275th anniversary. Jones told the board she is staying in the area. "I've got family here," she said. Local Scouts will visit Spring-Ford Historical Society on Monday night to see memorabilia collection
Most people are familiar with Girl Scouts for one thing - cookie sales. However, cookies, and their associated fundraising, are only one part of the social, physical, and mental development opportunities that Scouting provides. The Girl Scouts celebrate their 100th anniversary today, March 12. Founded in 1912, the Scouts currently have 2.3 million members, 1 million adult volunteers and 50 million alumnae worldwide. Debbie Soles, troop leader of local Junior Troop 7188, said that her troop will be celebrating the Scouts' birthday by visiting the Spring-Ford Historical Society on Monday night from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to see a collection of Girl Scout memorabilia on display. The following was contributed by Bill Brunner, President of the Spring-Ford Area Historical Society: Over the past 12 years we have had many Eagle Scout projects completed at our local museum. All of these efforts are appreciated and in some cases go unnoticed. Our most recent project appropriately fits this description. Tim Driedger from Grace Lutheran Church troop 406 here in Royersford is our latest candidate. I met with Tim and his father in October of 2011 to discuss his Eagle Scout project. I outlined a plan we had developed to improving the large room in the basement. This required extensive cement and plaster work as well as painting the walls with a special moisture barrier coating.
