Royersford Gets New Weather Monitoring Stations

Two new stations, RAM-1 and RAM-2, will measure weather conditions and river levels.

The Royersford Borough Office of Emergency Management announced that they have added two weather monitoring stations to the area to help the office watch ongoing conditions.  Officer Tom Godin, the borough's Emergency Management Director, said the stations will be called RAM-1 and RAM-2 (which stands for Royersford Atmospheric Monitoring). RAM-1 is a weather monitoring station perched on the borough hall roof. Godin said it will measure "temperature, barometric pressure, rainfall totals, humidity, wind direction and speed, among other things." The station is also able to upload information directly to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and could become an official NOAA reporting station. RAM-2 is a water level and wind …

Ruth, The Schuylkill River divides Royersford from Spring City, and First Avenue is literally feet from the riverbank. That area is generally in the most danger should the river get above its flood stage.   more ›
