I think that the vast majority of Americans have had enough of this prohibition nonsense. When the government forced the marijuana prohibition onto us in 1937 they promised that it'd eliminate marijuana use and make people safe. But after more than seventy years it hasn't achieved either of these goals!

In fact by shutting down the legal supply of marijuana while at the same time being totally incapable of curbing demand for the herb, the government has created a massive black market for marijuana that draws drug dealers into our neighborhoods and makes our children LESS safe.

We should NOT have laws that create more harm than what they prevent! It is unconscionable for our elected officials to perpetuate the failed prohibition on marijuana that *increases* crime and *decreases* the safety of our children!!

We need to END the marijuana black market and the easy access kids have to marijuana by letting stores sell legally-grown marijuana to adults at prices low enough to prevent illegal competition. We need to legalize marijuana like beer and wine!

These days we keep hearing about "legalizing marijuana for recreational use", but what it really appears to be is an attempt to legalize marijuana as a far safer alternative to alcohol.

According to the CDC, alcohol kills 80,000 people every year in the U.S. while marijuana kills none, and marijuana's addiction potential is only about that of coffee.

Since marijuana is significantly milder, safer and less addictive than alcohol, we could prevent a lot of the harm that alcohol causes by letting people choose marijuana instead of alcohol. We need to put the safety of our children FIRST and legalize marijuana like beer and wine.

Marijuana should absolutely be legalized like beer and wine. Marijuana is significantly milder, safer and less addictive than alcohol, and we could prevent a lot of the harm that alcohol causes by letting people choose marijuana instead of alcohol.

The thing about marijuana and driving is that marijuana's been illegal for more than seventy years and yet people are still using it and still driving after using it. The federal marijuana prohibition *doesn't* stop people using marijuana and *doesn't* keep us "safe" from people who have used marijuana!

Keeping marijuana illegal while being unable to prevent its use just funds the illegal marijuana suppliers and draws drug dealers around our children. We should NOT have laws that cause more harm than what they prevent! We must throw out the failed and deadly marijuana prohibition and instead legalize marijuana like beer and wine!

It was the will of the American people that legalized marijuana in CO and WA and it was the will of the American people that gave President Obama a second term. He can't now nullify one without severely undermining the legitimacy of the other!

In the seventy years since the launch of the marijuana prohibition we've learned a few important things: 1.) The prohibition absolutely does NOT stop people using marijuana. 2.) The prohibition causes FAR more harm than what it prevents. 3.) The prohibition fuels organized crime and makes children LESS safe.

It is fundamentally WRONG for the government to continue any policy that causes more harm than good! We have to put the safety of our children FIRST and demand that they legalize marijuana like beer and wine.

By far, the best way to reduce children's access to marijuana is by getting it off the street. When we let stores sell legally-grown marijuana to adults at prices low enough to prevent illegal competition, we'll drive the drug dealers who sell marijuana to kids off the street making it much harder for our children to access marijuana. Marijuana prohibition is bad for America and makes children unsafe - we need to legalize marijuana like beer and wine.
