Hometown: Delran, NJ

Bio: Ever since the ripe age of 16, I knew I wanted to be a writer. From there, my constant drive and initiative drove me to write for my local newspaper's Teen Voice section, which allowed local high school students to share their opinions and report good news in their area. The sky was the limit for me from there.

I attended Penn State University in 2005 and decided to go the broadcast route. After interning with Rivals.com (Penn State football), WFAN (New York sports radio) and Titan Fitness' U of Combat (mixed martial arts), I was awarded a part-time job with ESPN Radio and Froggy FM in State College as a producer and disc jockey. I finished my college career and headed home to New Jersey.

Once home, I found out about Patch through an ad on Craigslist to work on the Places portion of our sites during prelaunch. From there, I became the Sports Editor at Cinnaminson Patch and wouldn't stop learning and developing until I was granted the wonderful opportunity to take over for David Powell at Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch.

With a beautiful girlfriend and a few good friends already in the area, I am eager to continue to grow upon what has already been established here and take us to new heights!

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for editors to inject their beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that their beliefs are on the record will cause them to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs?

I don't really put myself in one category. I don't really think anyone is truly 100-percent conservative or 100-percent liberal.

Religion
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious)

I was raised a Catholic and continue to hold those beliefs; however, I am more spiritual than religious and am always willing to hear others out on how they feel with no bias or judgment.

Local Hot-Button Issues
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

When I think of this area, I think about growth, achievement, academic excellence and the American Dream. The schools are top-notch here and I think the issues surrounding them are always in need of coverage and information.

I also see a lot of businesses popping up not only in these towns, but also nearby towns, with King of Prussia right around the corner. I'm sure people are concerned about what's coming in to town and what's going out and how that will affect this particular economic environment.

Safety is of another concern here and I think the public certainly needs to know of any new emergency evacuation plans that are put into place due to the closeness in proximity of the power plant.

These towns are filled with great people and great people should not only be informed of the dangers and happenings around town, but also highlighted in their own way.

If you have an interesting story you would like to tell, please contact me! I'm all ears.

Kevin,

I might want to change my profile picture for use with my current FISHING FEVER blog. I just can't find where to do that. Any advice?

Maybe something should be written up about suicide. In the past year there have been 2 suicides in the Springford school district and as a parent it is very concerning. Young kids ages 13 and 14 should not have to deal with this esp twice in one year. Just a thought.

Kevin, this is Valerie from Open Door on Main Street in Royersford. We met at Community Day and/or in person at the shop, I believe Laurie introduced us. We will be having the grand opening of our new store (right next door to the Open Door) at 348 Main on 11/25. It will be called Faith's Fashion. I am contacting you to find out if there is any possibility of having you come out on that date to video our opening and share it on FB? You can contact me on FB (Valerie Reese Crawford) or by phone (call or text) at 484.369.1072. Thanks!
