Joe, we've had our differences in the past, but this is a true non-partisan issue. The interceptor is going to go through, blocking it to prevent the creek from "swelling up" or preventing "over development" is not going to happen; the State Prison construction in Skippack and the DEP will make sure of that. What this is about is minimizing the impacts on the environment, the residents and your wallet.

Agreed, John, but the "Phoenixville" section of Upper Providence is more properly referred to as Oaks, Mont Clare or Port Providence. These towns are well established and should not lose their identity simply because of postal codes.

It's a quirk of zip codes, not geography. There is no Phoenixville section of Upper Providence either. Originally, residents who were serviced by the Oaks post office had to pick up their mail from the post office because it did not offer delivery. When Phoenixville and Collegeville began offering rural postal routes for delivery, many residents signed up for them. When my husband and I signed up for a rural route back in 1996, we had the choice of using either a Phoenixville or Collegeville zip code; now I believe most Oaks residents who get home delivery use Phoenixville as their zip code.

Tom,
Upper Providence is a stand alone township in Montgomery county; we are not a "section" of Phoenixville. Through a quirk of post office regulations, most people who live in Upper Providence have either a Phoenixville or Collegeville zip code; that is the case with these businesses, which are located in Oaks and Mont Clare/Port Providence sections of Upper Providence. sections Only people who get their mail delivered to a post office box in Oaks have an Oaks zip code.

Gil, I don't want to keep going back and forth, but what you are advocating for is a government-run newspaper. The Township is committed to transparency and posts the agenda and minutes for meetings where Township business is conducted. We have recently begun exploring ways to expand the functionality of our website and have posted appropriate links to Township related stories and information where appropriate. We also mail out quartely newsletters. It is not appropriate for the Township to take the role of announcing the possible arrival of a new businesses in privately owned shopping centers, though we have begun linking announcement articles that appear in the traditional media on our website as we become aware of them. I appreciate and share your frustration in the lack of media coverage or our Township, but it is not the Township's role to take the place of the traditional media. It sounds like you have some definite ideas and a vision of your own regarding what you expect from the Township in the way of communication. Why not submit or or call me to discuss your ideas constructively?

Thank you Adam. I wholeheartedly agree that there is a huge hole in the Townships news coverage since Lynn left. The Times Herald doesn't seem to want to come so "far" west and the Mercury doesn't seem to want to cover past Royersford, and we fall into a black hole of coverage.

The Board of Supervisors statement on the Gumbes Road traffic calming survey is available on the Township's website here:

I think it is an understatement to the Nth degree to say that the traffic calming process was simply "faulty". Especially when the process was intended specifically to gauge residents' opinions on traffic calming options in their neighborhoods.

You can choose to look at it that way, Joe, but Lower Providence also acknowledged the expansion project is necessary by endorsing the "Arcola 3" option, which is one of the points in my post.
