Man Threatens to Kill Ex at Victory Park

Royersford Police responded to a major assault on Friday.

The following incident was sent in by Royersford Police Chief Kevin Schurr:

On Feb. 17 at 3:20 p.m., Royersford Police responded to an emergency dispatch to Victory Park located at 250 Second Ave. in Royersford. The call was for an armed male subject with a knife assaulting a female. Upon arrival, police subdued Mark A. Watson, 47 of Royersford, who was engaged in a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, a 32-year-old female victim who resides in New Berlinville.

Watson did display, threatened and attempted to use a knife during the assault during which verbal threats were also made by him that he would "kill the victim."

The victim received minor injuries during the assault as she was able to fend off the armed attack of Watson with the assistance of an on-scene witness. The victim did not require hospitalization for injuries. During the arrest, Watson was combative with the Royersford police, displayed extreme violent demeanor and appeared to be intoxicated. He was also found to be in possession of various pills and narcotics.

Watson was charged with criminal attempt homicide; aggravated assault; simple assault; possessing instruments of crime; terroristic threats; reckless endangerment; harassment; possession of a controlled substance, and was arraigned by District Justice Edward C. Kropp. Watson was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post the $100,000 cash bail requirement. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki of Limerick.
