A look at this week's police activity in Limerick

Limerick

The logged 161 incidents between Oct. 17 and 23. Of the incidents, 18 were deemed false alarms.

Among the calls to which the police responded were the following incidents of note.

Retail Theft at Brooks Brothers

On Oct. 25, 2011, the Limerick Township Police Department arrested the following individual for retail theft following an incident at the store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, 18 W. Lightcap Rd.

Barry Ward, age 54, of the 2700 block of N. Newkirk St, Philadelphia.

Ward took merchandise (pants and shirts) to the dressing room and concealed the items under the clothing he was wearing. Ward was confronted by an employee and engaged in physical contact with the employee when he was told police were responding. A folding knife, believed to have been used to remove packaging material, was found in the dressing room.

Ward has prior arrests including robberies, burglaries, aggravated and simple assaults, weapons violations, forgery, drug violations and thirty-two retail theft arrests. The most recent retail theft arrest being made by Upper Merion in March of this year.

He was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.

Retail Theft at Kohl's

On Oct. 19 around 2:32 p.m., Limerick Officer John Henry responded to a retail theft at Kohl's Department Store.

Upon arrival, Henry found that Matthew Ryan Costello, 22 of Royersford, was already in custody of Kohl's security staff. He had attempted to steal $50-worth of Vermeil Jewelry, $45-worth of "SS Earrings" and $12.60-worth of Branded jewelry.

He was issued a non-traffic citation for retail theft.

Royersford Police Department did not send in any official reports this week.

Pennsylvania State Police

There was no reported activity in the coverage area from the Pennsylvania State Police.
