Suspicion of Drug Transaction Leads to Possession Arrests

On May 22 at 6:59 p.m., Officer Tom Godin stopped a vehicle involved in an alleged drug transaction in the area of 5th and Main St. The vehicle had two occupants according to the police report.

Kyle Lightcap, 23 of the 200 block of Benner Road, and Roger Schlichter, 38 of the 3,000 block of Sanatoga Road, Pottstown were arrested for possession of controlled substance which they were not licensed to possess and also the receipt in commerce of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Both subjects will be summonsed to appear in court for charges.

Old Man Damages SEPTA Bus for Taking Detour

On May 19 at 12:54 p.m., Officer John O'Keefe was dispatched for reports of a  SEPTA bus being vandalized after a passenger became irate. Allegedly the bus had to detour due to construction causing an extended ride for that passenger.

The incident occurred in the area of 2nd Avenue and Main Street.

Floyd Henry Christman, 73, and a resident of the , intentionally struck the side view mirror of the SEPTA bus with his cane causing damage, according to the report. Officer O'Keefe made contact with Christman who then was arrested for criminal mischief, a summary violation.

Police Investigating Stolen Plants

Between 7 p.m. on May 20 and 9:15 a.m. on May 21, Officer Joseph Oberholtzer reported someone had taken eight hanging plants, which were hanging on a display outside of the tent area at Main Street and Lewis Road.

The plants were red, white and blue in color.  The value of the plants totaled $160. The incident is under investigation.

Tools Stolen from Car at The Pointe

On May 22, Officer Tom Godin received a report of a theft from motor vehicles. The victim reported that tools were stolen from his vehicle located inside located on 1st Avenue.

Allegedly, the vehicle was unsecured and easily accessible.

Over $2,000 of items were reportedly taken. The incident is under investigation.

NOTE FROM THE DEPARTMENT: All residents are advised to keep their doors and windows locked on their houses and vehicles at all times. The majority of our thefts are crimes of opportunity by residents just forgetting to lock their vehicles or houses. RPD urges all residents to take the extra time to lock their houses and vehicles to avoid being a victim.
