It all happened rather quickly,” James Harrison of Royersford testified Tuesday in Montgomery County Court, recalling for a jury the 1:34 p.m. April 27, 2011, crash that claimed the life of 26-year-old Kristy L. Bender who was walking along the 1200 block of South Township Line Road in Upper Providence on her way from work to her parents’ nearby home.

Harrison was traveling northbound behind a 2003 Toyota Camry that struck Bender, according to testimony. Harrison testified he observed the Camry, which prosecutors say was operated by then 74-year-old Patricia Maurer, “slowly start veering to the right, sort of gliding toward the right,” before striking Bender who was walking on the right side of the roadway.
